Chapter 3

"I know you had to do what you did. If I were you, I would do that too. Let's just hope your mother doesn't freak out." Aiden said. They pulled into the driveway. "Why are we home so early?" Alex asked, she had a day off. "Uh, well, you see... Xavier got suspended for assaulting another student that was bullying him." Aiden said. "Don't worry, I'm not angry, I think he did the right thing in my personal opinion. It was different back in Utah, especially since I almost got killed in THAT place." Alex said. "What place?" Xavier asked. "Never mind." Alex said. It got late out, Xavier was sitting on the porch. Someone tapped him on the shoulder. It was Emma. "Uh, Emma, what are you doing here?" He asked. "I'm sorry that you got suspended, but hey, at least you get some rest." She said. "Anyway, the word spread around about the fight, they knew who it was for." She said with a smile. "Oh, well, I uh-" He got interrupted. "If you felt that way you could have told me, I would have said yes." Emma said with a smile. "So are we?" Xavier asked. "Sure." She said. Xavier stepped onto the grass and felt a lump on the ground. "Huh?" He said. The kneeled down to take a closer look. "There was a rain storm the other day, maybe the ground is just weird from that." Emma said. "Maybe, I'll get a shovel to see if it's anything." He got a shovel from the shed and started digging. Then the shovel hit something. "What's this?" Xavier pulled out a metal mask from the ground. "I don't know." Emma said. "I'll take this inside for better inspection. Come in if you want." The mask was made of metal, it looked like it should be shiny, but it had cracks and rust all over it. It looked like it was supposed to be some kind of clown, it's left side mouthpiece was hanging loose. "Hey mom, what is this?" Xavier asked. Alex stood there frozen in place for a minute. "Uhhh, that's something weird to find, well, I don't know that that is, maybe it could be worth something." Alex said. Xavier looked at Alex in suspicion. "I know you're hiding something, this mask has to do something with that place you were talking about." "What place?" Alex asked. "That weird pizzeria thing, I don't know." Xavier said. "Dad, explain what this mask is." Xavier said. "Cough it up Alex, he knows now. He's ready to learn." Aiden said...
