Chapter 5

Spring break arrived for those who were in school. Emma was over Xavier's house so they could hang out. Matt (the grandfather) was staying over the break for Easter. "I want to know where this mask originated." Said Xavier. "What do you mean?" Emma asked. "I mean I want to go out and explore where this came from." "What's going on in here?" Matt asked. "Do you know what this mask is for?" Xavier asked. Matt looked at it for a minute. "I know where to go." Matt said. "We have to take a flight to Denver, that's where your aunt Chloe is. Then we take Interstate 70 to Utah." They then told Alex and Aiden about their adventure. Alex said fine, Aiden was a little hesitant, but he said ok. Emma got permission from her parents. They then drove to Logan International Airport in Boston the next day Xavier carried the mask with him. "Are you ready?" Matt asked as they boarded the plane. "Yes, we are ready." Xavier said. The plane then took off and they were on their way to Denver. The flight was four hours long, but eventually they landed. It was almost night time. "It's getting late." Matt said, they were in the airport. "Let's see if Aunt Chloe will let us stay over." They then drove to Aunt Chloe's place. Xavier rung the doorbell. "Dad? Xavier? Some other girl? What are you doing here this late at night?" Chloe asked. We need a place to stay for the night, because we are going to solve they mystery that terrorized Alex and her friends a long time ago." Matt said. "Come in, you never told me about this." Chloe said. Matt then explained what happened all those years ago and that how they hid this from her all her life because they didn't want to scare her. "Oh wow, that's shocking." Chloe said, but she didn't sound like she was surprised. She sounded like she knew the entire time and even something like that happened to her almost. Just then a girl about 15 years old came down stairs. "Uh, mom, what's Xavier, Grandpa and this other girl doing here?" The girl said. She was Xavier's younger cousin Heather. "We're talking about something important Heather, go back upstairs or something." Chloe said. "I'm gonna stay here and listen ok?" Heather said with a look that said please on it. "Argh, fine, but what you might hear might change your views on the family." Matt continued to explain the past and when he finally finished. "I want to come with you!!!" Heather yelled. "I'm fine with that, it's just your mother that I'm worried about." Matt said. Chloe thought for a second. "Fine, but if she gets hurt, I'm suing you." Chloe said. They all found a room to sleep in for the night and Xavier went to bed and fell asleep...
