Amy woke up and sighed. Oh great, another Monday. She groaned and pushed herself up out of her bed, trying to muster the energy to actually leave her bedroom and get ready. She stretched her legs and padded to the bathroom in her blue faded dressing gown and her bunny slippers, yawning as she shut the door and locked it.
Wisteria woke up and almost fell out of her bed. She yawned and stretched, looking around her room sleepily. She rubbed her eyes and sighed, before standing up and walking to the bathroom, which was already occupied by her mom.
"Mom? How long will you be in there?" she called.
"Hmm? Oh, sorry sweetie, give me a few minutes and I'll be right out, I promise!" her mom yelled back at her.
"Ok!" Wisteria yelled back, sighing.
She decided to get dressed, since there wasn't really much else to do. She threw on a grey t shirt with some blue jeans, then glanced at the bathroom door. It was still shut, so she sighed and went downstairs, still rubbing her eyes. Her older sister, Emma, was already sitting at the table, reading 'IT' by Stephen King. Wisteria sat down at the table and sighed. Her sister looked up, startled, but smiled when she saw Wisteria.
"Hey, Wispy, how's it going?" she asked kindly.
"It's fine, just another Monday." Wisteria sighed.
"I know how you feel." her sister chuckled.
"Mom's hogging the bathroom again." Wisteria groaned, placing her head on the table.
"That's never good." Emma sighed, placing her book down and wrapping her arm around her sisters shoulders.
Just then the phone rang, and Emma and Wisteria stared at it, then at each other in confusion. Wisteria went towards the phone cautiously and picked it up.
"Hello?" she said into the phone.
"Hello? Is that Wisteria? It's Mrs. Baker, Rachel's mom. She never came home last night, do you know where she might be?"
Wisteria's stomach dropped to the floor and she started shaking.
"Hello? Is anyone there?"
"H-hi, yeah it's Wisteria, I don't know where she might be, we all left Amy's house together last night." she replied shakily.
"Oh ok, thank you. I'm sure she just left early for school. Thank you though." Rachel's mom said, hanging up the phone abruptly.
Wisteria slowly placed the phone down and walked back to the table shakily. She sat down and stared at the placemat in front of her.
"What's wrong Wispy? What happened?" Emma asked her worriedly.
"That was Rachel's mom, she said that..that she never came home last night." Wisteria said sadly.
"Oh my god, that's terrible. What do you think happened?" her sister asked kindly.
"I'm not sure, her mom thinks she went to school early though." she said.
"Ok, that's probably what she did then. She'll be fine, don't worry." Emma said brightly.
Wisteria smiled slightly, Emma could always make her smile, even when she was feeling like shit.
"You're right. She'll be fine." she smiled.
Emma smiled, and turned back to her book. Wisteria smiled at her, and left the table.
"When you're done reading that, can you lend it to me?" she laughed as she went upstairs.
"Sure, when I've read the next 900 pages!" her sister shouted back at her.
Wisteria looked at the bathroom, finally it was available. She went inside and washed her face, the cold water waking her up. She sighed and went out of the bathroom, slung on her school bag, and went outside.
Amy was waiting for Wisteria outside, and had been for the last ten minutes. Wisteria finally ventured outside, and Amy breathed a sigh of relief.
"What took you so long Wisp? I've been waiting here for ages." she said, chuckling.
"I'm sorry, I'm just not feeling too great this morning." Wisteria said softly.
"Are you ok? Is something bothering you?" Amy asked worriedly.
Wisteria let out a long sigh.
"Yeah, something is bothering me, but I'll tell you when Jacob gets here."
"Ok." Amy said, understanding.
They walked to Jacob's house, where he was waiting outside slumped on his fence. He rolled his eyes when he saw them approaching, but smiled at them as well.
"You took your time this morning, didn't you?" he laughed.
"Where's Rachel?" he asked, looking concerned.
"That's what I wanted to tell you. Her mom phoned this morning, apparently she never came back last night." Wisteria said, blinking back tears.
"What? But she left my house last night, you all did! Oh shit, what if something happened?" Amy said, almost crying.
"Her mom thinks she went to school early." Wisteria said.
"Well that's bullshit. She wouldn't leave for school without telling us." Jacob said.
"Maybe just this once she forgot." Amy said, staring at Jacob.
"Ok, yeah, she probably did." he sighed.
They started walking to school and stood in the courtyard, staring at the wildlife.
"Hey look, it's the gay boy." Andrew, a bully, sniggered.
"You must be living in the dark ages if you still think it's an insult to call someone gay." Amy retorted.
"Was I talking to you? No I wasn't, so shut the hell up." he snarled.
"How about you Andrew, you shithead." Amy said, rolling her eyes.
Andrew scoffed and flounced off, his minion Alex trailing after him.
"Assholes. Thanks Angel." Jacob whispered.
"It's in the name Midget. It's all in the name." Amy smiled, before walking off to her class, she was in Music, Wisteria and Jacob were in Art.
"I haven't seen Rachel all morning, I hope she's ok." Wisteria worried.
"Don't worry Wisp, she'll be fine." Jacob said, putting his arm around her.
"Awwww, are the tranny and gay dating? Oh wait, she's gay! She can't date him!" Andrew chortled, thinking he was hilarious.
"Shut up Andrew." Jacob sighed.
"Oh, where's your little bi friend? Is she too busy snogging the face off another queer to hang about with her sad friends?" Andrew jeered.
"SHUT THE FUCK UP ANDREW!" Wisteria yelled, causing everyone in the hallway to stop and stare.
Andrew did a double take, then scoffed and walked down the corridor, Alex running behind him.
Jacob turned to stare at Wisteria, and gave her a hug.
"Are you sure you're ok Wisp?" he asked her gently.
"I'm fine, I just couldn't stand listening to them talking about Rachel like that." she whispered.
"I understand, Wisp." he smiled.
"I know you do Midget." Wisteria smiled, then they walked to Art together.
