Jacob had been tossing and turning all night, unable to get to sleep. His head was filled with too many thoughts, of Rachel, of Seven, of everything. It was eating away at his brain, he just couldn't get to sleep. So instead, he lay awake, staring up at his ceiling for what seemed like forever. Eventually the sun peaked in through his curtains, sending a pinky purple light across the floor of his small bedroom. He sighed, sat up, and stretched. Soon it was like his door was being knocked down, and he almost fell out of his bed.
"Jacob! Get up and get ready for school!" his dad yelled at him through the door.
Jacob sighed and rolled out of his bed and onto the floor. He lay there for a few moments, until his dad began yelling at him again.
"Jacob! Get up right now!" his dad bellowed.
Jacob groaned and sloped over to the door, opening it gingerly. His dad stood there staring back at him.
"I'm up now, dad." Jacob sighed, shuffling over to the bathroom.
He didn't turn around, but he could feel his dad shaking his head at him as he walked over to the bathroom and closed the door. He sighed and slid down against the door, putting his head on his knees. His dad was never supportive of any of his decisions, he practically hit the ceiling when Jacob told him he was transgender. Jacob shuddered just thinking about it. He stood up and walked over to the sink, and stared at himself in the bathroom mirror. He exhaled, then began getting ready for his day.
Meanwhile, Wisteria was putting concealer underneath her eyes quickly, for she had massive bags underneath them. The bags were the result of a sleepless night worrying about Rachel. She sighed and stopped lathering concealer on her pale skin. She sloped downstairs and sat at the table. Emma was sitting there, still reading her book.
"How long is that, Emma?" Wisteria chuckled.
"Like, ten thousand pages. It's for my English class, I'm supposed to be writing an essay on it." Emma groaned.
"You look awful." Wisteria said worriedly.
"Gee, thanks." Emma moaned, placing her head on the table. "I stayed up all night reading this stupid book, I feel terrible." she said.
"Then go back to bed." Wisteria laughed.
Emma grinned at her.
"I might just do that. See ya!" she chuckled, before retreating to her bedroom.
"Wish I could do that." Wisteria mumbled, picking up her school bag and heading out the door.
Wisteria glanced outside, Amy was nowhere to be seen.
"That's strange, she's usually out here before me." Wisteria muttered under her breath.
She got out her mobile and texted Amy quickly.W- hey where are you xx
A- running slightly late, just go if you want xx
W- how long will you be
A- I'm not sure, just meet up with Jacob as usual, I'll see you in school xx
W- ok, bye xxWisteria put her phone back in her pocket, confused.
"I hope she's ok." she whispered, before walking towards Jacob's house.
She reached Jacob's house, and he was outside waiting for her. He smiled when he saw her, but a look of confusion spread across his face when he saw that Amy wasn't with her.
"Where's Amy?" he asked when Wisteria approached.
"I don't know, she texted me to say that she was running slightly late." Wisteria replied.
"That's not like Amy." Jacob said, shaking his head.
"I know. I hope she's ok." Wisteria said, biting her lip.
Jacob stopped walking and put his arm around Wisteria.
"She'll be fine. You worry too much, you know that?" he chuckled.
Wisteria smiled faintly.
"I know, I know." she whispered.
They continued walking to school, and walked into their classes. They were together in first period, which was Chemistry. Amy was in Chemistry too, so they would see her first period, hopefully. Eventually she came running in, hair a mess, breathing heavily. She sat down next to Wisteria and Jacob, and smiled at them.
"Are you ok?" Jacob whispered.
"I'm fine Midget, just a little out of breath." she wheezed.
"Are you sure?" he persisted.
"Yes. I have something to tell you both, I'll tell you at lunch, I promise." she said, slowly getting her breath back.
Wisteria opened her mouth to ask what it was, but the bell rang, so she quickly closed it. The teacher was droning on and on about iodine and potassium, but Wisteria couldn't concentrate, her mind was too busy trying to work out what Amy had to tell her and Jacob.*lunchtime*
Wisteria was last out of Music Technology, and walked to the cafeteria quickly. She entered the cafeteria, and saw Amy waving at her from a small table wedged in the corner. She smiled, and walked over to the table. She sat down, and smiled at Amy and Jacob, who smiled back at her.
"Right, Amy, what do you want to tell us? It's been bugging me all day." Jacob sighed, placing his Chin on his hands expectantly.
Amy laughed and put her hands up in surrender.
"Ok, ok, I'll tell you!" she sighed, still grinning at them.
"So..." Jacob prompted, staring at Amy, a smile on his face.
She shook her head at him, and smiled.
"Ok. So, when I was on my way to school, I decided to drop in and check up on that little girl we found last night. So I did, and when I got in your basement, she was looking at all the pictures of us that you have in the basement. I pointed out a couple of photographs and I showed her that one of Rachel, you know, the one where we caught her laughing and snapped a picture." Amy stopped, staring at them.
"Then what?" Wisteria whispered.
"She recognised her. She's never seen Rachel before, but she recognised her from that picture. I don't know why, I tried asking but she was too shaky, she had to sit down. I sat with her for a few minutes, but she did go to sleep, so I had to leave. I got outside and looked at my watch, then I sprinted to school." she finished.
"How did she recognise Rachel when she's never seen her before?" Jacob wondered.
His eyes widened as he realise another thing.
"There are a few pictures of me when I was, you know, Summer, isn't there?" he asked Amy, his eyes wide.
Amy nodded, biting her lip.
"Well, did she see any of them?" Jacob asked worriedly.
"I'm not sure, not when I was there." Amy reassured him.
Jacob breathed out, relaxing.
"How did she recognise Rachel though?" Rachel wondered.
"Maybe she has something to do with her disappearing." Amy wondered.
Jacob looked at her, confused.
"I'm not saying she's the reason that Rachel's missing, but maybe she knows something." Amy explained.
"We can ask her later." Jacob said.
Just then Wisteria's phone began to ring. It was an unknown number. Wisteria answered, fingers shaking.
"Hello?" she asked shakily.
There was no answer, just static.
"Hello." she said, more firmly.
More static, then Wisteria heard a faint scream.
"Rachel? Is that you?" Wisteria whispered.
The static increased, then the phone went dead. Wisteria removed the phone from her ear, shaking and breathing heavily.
"Wisp? Are you ok?" Jacob asked worriedly.
Wisteria didn't give an answer, she was staring into space.
"Wisp. Wisp, can you hear me?" Amy said, shaking her.
Wisteria fainted and fell off of her chair, hitting her her on the hard floor and blacking out, oblivious to everyone calling her name and shaking her, as she fell down into the pit of unconsciousness,AN- I'm so sorry I haven't been active, I had writers block for two days and I was out in town for two days in a row so I was really tired and didn't feel like writing.
