Chapter Three

Maddie's POV

I liked Brittany's plan, and I think it is going to happen. Once all of our houses are sold, we'll be rich! Since they're 1-2 people houses, each could probably sell for $130,000. Once all of them are sold, we'll have over one million dollars overall. $1,690,000. And our budget is one million. Well probably have like $500,00 left over, and I know what that means.. SHOPPING SPREE! Or at least for the girls and I. The boys will probably spend their share on video games and musical instruments. But I know what I'll spend mine on; clothes and makeup! And probably a new phone, too. Eeeeeh! I'm so excited! I can smell the money already.

Brittany's POV

That night I could barely sleep. I was so excited. But it will actually take months for all the houses to sell. I woke up. I looked at my clock and it read 10:26am. I probably woke up so late because I didn't fall asleep until 2am last night. Then again, that's usually the case.

"Mom!" I yelled. "Can you make me breakfast?!" I yelled. There was no response. "Mom!" I yelled again. Oh right, I'm 20 years old, and I live alone. I slumped down in my bed. Now I just feel silly. I slept for another 20 minutes, until it was 10:47am and I was finally not tired. What should I do today? Then I remembered. I have work! And it starts at 10:50am! I'm going to be late, I'm going to be late! I almost ripped my pajamas off. I threw on grey billabong sweatpants and a nirvana T-shirt. I quickly put on socks and put my hair into a messy bun without even brushing it. I didn't bother with makeup. I grabbed my purse and threw on some combat boots and a cardigan. I stormed out the door and got into my car. The clock in my car read 10:54am. I'm already late. I sighed but started driving. Better late than never. But really, I can't be that late. I really can't afford to lose my job. I popped a piece of gum in my mouth because I didn't have the time to brush my teeth this morning. I parked in the parking lot of Red Lobster. I'm a waitress there. And my boss is a dick. He'll probably scold me for being 8 minutes late. I rushed inside, spitting out my gum on the ground before I got inside. I quickly hung my cardigan up on the coat rack. Good thing we don't have uniforms, or I'd be even more late. I found my boss. I walked up to him.

"I'm so sorry! I woke up late! I won't be late again!" I said to him, hoping for sympathy. He just stood and looked at me wide eyed. "You think this is okay?!" "He shouted. "You may NOT be late twice in a row!" He spat. "I didn't hire you so you could be late AND look like shit! You think the men are going to like this kind of service?!" A shiver went down my spine. "I'm sorry I-" I started. "Just shut up and don't let it happen again!" He yelled. "Or else you're fired!" I nodded and left his office room. I expected him to scold me on being late, but did he really have to tell me I looked like shit?

I saw my coworker, Elise. She chuckled when she saw me. I groaned. "What?" I asked her. She just pointed to my chest. I looked down. I forgot to wear a bra. And my shirt is white. I cursed under my breath and grabbed my cardigan so it wouldn't be as noticeable. I began to wait on two women. I wrote down their food and drinks. "It will be right with you" I smiled at them. I turned around a little too quickly, and bumped into another waiter, Kyle. He just happened to be holding two glasses of beer. He dropped them and the glass broke on the ground, sending alcohol flying up and hitting me, Kyle, and two other customers. I let out a deep breath. I am literally covered in beer. I looked at the two customers he was about to give the beer to. Two familiar men covered in beer. I cringed. This has been a terrible start to the day. All I could say was "Hello, Luke. And hello, Michael".
