Chapter Four - Making Cookies

Brittany's POV

That day at work was terrible. I swear I was seconds from bursting into tears. Kyle was upset with me because he told me it was my fault. He told my boss and I was almost fired. When I told my boss about it and said that I needed to shower, he said I only had 6 minutes to get to my house, and shower, and get back. Going home is a two minute drive, so I only got around a minute of showering. It was terrible. When I got home after work I had a real 15 minute shower, because I still smelled like beer. It's 7:25pm now. I took out my phone and saw that I got a text from Luke three minutes ago. It said "Hiii I'm gonna invite over Ashton and Maddie to my house. Wanna come too?" I smiled. I don't know why. Wait, he's inviting Ashton and Maddie.. The two people that I think might like each other. Whatever, though. If anything happens, I want to know what's going on. Plus, I have nothing better to do. "Okay I'll be there in 10" I texted him. I got up. But I do look like shit right now. I took of my clothes so I could pick out clothes. Before I picked them, I put on deodorant because I was in too much of a rush this morning to remember to put it on. I picked out black skinny jeans and a purple tank top. I put on foundation, concealer, eyeliner, mascara, and lip balm. I put on floral sneakers and a leather jacket. I shoved my phone in my back pocket and went outside. I got into my car and started driving. Four minutes later, I was there. I noticed Ashton's and Maddie's car aren't in the driveway yet. So I'm the first one here. A wave of satisfaction rolled over me, and I have no clue why. I got out of my car and locked it. I walked up to his doorstep and knocked on the door. Only seconds later, it opened, revealing Luke.

"Hey roomie!" He greeted me. "Come in!" I smiled, nodded and walked inside. To my surprise, Luke hugged me. I was surprised, but I hugged him back. A few seconds later, he pulled away and so did I.

"You're quite eager", I joked. He shrugged. "I've just been bored and now I'm happy to see a friend" he smiled at me. I smiled back naturally. His smile is sure contagious. He went and sat on his couch and pulled out his phone. He looked at me and patted the part of the couch beside him. I came and sat. I got out my phone. To break the silence, I spoke. "So when are Maddie and Ashton coming?" I asked him. "I don't know. I haven't asked them yet. I'll text them now" he told me. "Okay" I said. I don't know why, but I kind of hope they don't come. I pushed that thought to the back of my mind.

"What do you wanna do?" Luke asked me. "Uh, I don't know. Watch a movie maybe? Or bake something?" I answered. He got up unexpectedly. I looked up at him.

"I'm hungry. Let's bake something" he said to me. "Alright" I said. I got up. He looked into one of his cupboards in his kitchen, I walked into the kitchen behind him. "Uh" Luke started, "we have brownies, cake, and cookie mix" he said. He looked at me. I smiled.

"Let's make cookies" I said. He nodded and took out the mix. I got out two bowls and a wooden spoon for mixing. We got to baking. I cracked the eggs. We put all the stuff in a big bowl. "I wanna mix" I said. "Okay" he chuckled. "This has got to be funny" he said. I turned around and stuck my tongue out at him. He just laughed. I turned back around and started mixing. It was easy at first. Luke stood behind me. "When are Maddie and Ashton coming?" I asked. "Oh" he said, "They're not" he told me. I smiled big but he cant see because he's standing behind me. "They texted me and said they couldn't come" he added. I kept smiling and I nodded. I grunted a little bit because the mix was getting hard to mix. I heard his footsteps and I felt hands on mine. I looked up, and there was Luke. Right above me. He was helping me mix it. His arms were around me, his hands cupping mine. I could feel my cheeks get hot and I knew my face went red. And that's when I realised,

I have feelings for Luke.
