His Light

Ch. V

Sakumi stretched her arms up high as she made her way to her stall. She would wake up super early every few days, so Ichirohiko sometimes wouldn't get to go with her to help.

"Sakumi" her fox ears twitched at the voice and she looked up, "please stop waking up so early in the morning" Ichirohiko said leaning on the counter
"Actually, yesterday i went to sleep early so I woke up early" Sakumi explained
"you couldn't wait a few hours?" he chuckled, "I mean, there's not a lot people here yet"
"Hey Sakumi" they both saw a certain human boy making his way to her stall

"You're going on a trip with Kumatetsu?" She asked
Kyuta nodded, "and we're stocking up on fruits and other foods" he said, "so I was wondering if you could give us some fruit?" he asked shyly

Ichirohiko and Sakumi smiled at each other
"I don't just give my fruit away" she said
"I thought you might say that" he said taking out some money
"You know what, since you're my friend, I'll give you a discount"
"Really?!"
Sakumi nodded
"Thanks!"

After giving Kuyta his fruit, Ichirohiko decided to help a bit since he and his brother didn't have anything to do.
"Let me guess" Sakumi said as he jumped over the counter, "the boys you beat the other day don't wanna fight you again?"
Ichirohiko's eyes widened and he blushed
Sakumi started laughing, "Ichi, you're stronger than any other kid, of course they don't wanna fight you anymore"
Ichirohiko chuckled as he rubbed the back of his head, "I'm not that strong. Yet" Sakumi raised her eyebrow at him, "I'm not" he said, "but someday, I will" she saw that glint of determination in his eyes, "I'll be a great swordsman, just like father, with a big snout and large fangs"

Sakumi stayed smiling, but in the inside she couldn't help but feel some sort of lie, when Ichirohiko would say something like that. The fox just couldn't see her best friend growing a snout and fangs like Iouzen.
"excuse me" a little kid called
Sakumi was pulled from her thoughts by the girl. She shrugged off the feeling and went to work.

Days went by and Kyuta stopped by, telling her about where they went and everything. Ichirohiko actually worked with her her since the day the human boy left, which surprised her since he likes to practice.

"He must've scared those other kids bad, for him to still be working with you" Kyuta said looking at the hat wearing boy behind Sakumi.
Kyuta ordered one of her sweets and Ichirohiko was grabbing the chosen fruit.
Sakumi chuckled, "that's what I said"
"here" Ichirohiko said coming up next to her with his arms full of fruits
"Oh thank you" she said put each one down, pulled her hair up and got to work.

Ichirohiko stayed quiet and starred at Sakumi work, as was Kyuta - who was amazed at how fast she was getting everything done.
With a glint in her eye and a smile on her face, Sakumi handed Kyuta his order, "here you go"
"Woah! That was so cool!" he yelled out looking at his sweet.

"You've very quiet Ichi" Sakumi said after Kyuta left, "what's up?"
"nothing" he replied
"Ichi" she said narrowing her eyes at him, "do you not like Kyuta?"
"No" he answered quickly, "I don't having anything against Kyuta" again Sakumi raised her eyebrow, "it's nothing really I-"
"Nii-chan!"
They all turned to see Jiromaru
"Jiro!" Sakumi waved
"Nii-chan, father said that he can train us today" he said
"really?" Ichirohiko asked with a smile
Jiromaru nodded, "he said he had time today" he said, "let's go"

Ichirohiko's smile faded and he looked over at Sakumi
"Go" she said, "Don't worry about me, you'e been dying to train and this is your chance, go" Ichirohiko just stared at her for a bit before she started pushing him out of her stall, "Hurry up and go! Leave" she chuckled
Jiromaru and Ichirohiko started laughing and started laughing too, "I'll see you at home!" they both yelled as they ran off.
Sakumi chuckled as they ran off. A few moments later she noticed Kyuta and Kumatetsu. Once she noticed what the human boy was doing, she started laughing.
"Kyuta!" She laughed, gaining the attention of both the bear monsters and human, "what are you doing?" she continued laughing making the human boy blush. She saw him explain something to the bear and they started walking to her stall. Sakumi was still laughing by the time they were in front of her.
"so you sell fruit?" Kumatetsu asked
Sakumi cleared her throat and nodded
The bear then smiled, "in that case I'd like to buy some from you" he said and gave her a list, "you happen to have these?"
Sakumi stared at the list and nodded. She went to get a basket and put in all the fruit he was asking for. After he paid for it, she looked at Kyuta and he noticed that her ears twitched and her eyes narrowed. "So what were you doing anyway?" she asked once Kumatetsu started walking away.
Kyuta gulped and didn't look at her, "I was copying Kumatetsu" he simply said
Sakumi chuckled again, "Why?"
"I'm learning his movements" he said smiling at her, "maybe I can pick up something from him if I watch him long enough"
"Or you could ask him if he could teach you, and you can become his disciple" Sakumi said in a most obvious tone.
Kyuta thought about for a second, "Nah, I'm good with my method"
