The trees and a lake are within my vision today after a decision to have a change of view, the suns warm rays beating down on the school and those within it, many taking refuge in the shade, others opting to go in the lake.

"I hate swimming." Ellie states from my side, feeling grateful she doesn't have hair to add to the heat.

"I don't remember if I like swimming, it's been a long time since I've went." My response sparks something within her, her glance brewing with something that has me aware of my surroundings.

We spot the others trudging towards the school and realize its lunch time, "Come on, we don't want to miss out on food." Ellie gathers up our things and stands from the shade of the tree.

"If they cooked, I hope the chefs didn't get heatstroke." I'm looking at the lake while we walk and I can spot the deep end a ways away considering we're walking on the shore.

Ellie grins at me "I know that's not gonna be the only stroking going on tonight."

"Ellie!" Scolding is the only response I can come up with.

"You're gonna have to do a lot of stroking with that hairbrush of yours to get the leaves out of your hair!" Her arms reach out and rush forward to shove me, and suddenly I'm thrusted into giant bowl of liquid.

I rise out of the water for my eyes to bestow upon Ellie leaning back, face to the sky, with a hand to her stomach and laughter booming from her.

"You find this amusing, Phimister?" I linger within the body of water with no reason coming to mind whatsoever.

"Oh, I find this breathtakingly hilarious, Jacobson." Ellie's face scrunched up with a grin, eyes bright and teeth emitting a shine that can rival the sun.

Steam rises from me and I look down, confusion clouding my mind, when suddenly my world blurs together and my vision fades to black.

"Sage, I'm so sorry, I was being stupid, who the hell throws a pyrokinetic into water without thinking?" My hearing is the first sense that I can comprehend.

There's a constant beeping within the room, small klinks and the whir of other electronics, I hear other people talking outside the door, and Ellie's gripping my hand like there's no tomorrow- Ellie's gripping my hand?

I shoot up from my spot on the bed, turning my gaze to Ellie.

"Sage! You're awake! I'm so sorry, I shouldn't have pushed you-..." I interrupt her apology by grabbing her hand, putting our palms together and intertwining our fingers together.

"...What are you doing?" Her eyes are clouded with confusion, but her body language tells me she doesn't mind.

"I can feel your hand." My gaze connects with hers and I'm overwhelmed with an uncontainable joy.

"I can feel your hand!" Laughter erupts from me and Ellie's mouth lifts up into a breathtaking smile, eyes lighting up like the sun.

We hug one another, laughing, and I can only focus on how her hug brings warmth towards me, and note how addicting the feeling truly can be.
