Kuroo x Reader
You've been by his side since you were young. You parents lived across the street from each other. His mother was expecting when your parents moved in to start a family. He was born, and then you were born shortly after him. Needless to say, the two of you have gotten to know each other over the years. Both of you were lucky to have someone so close to you grow up with you.
Kuroo felt especially lucky. You knew everything about him. He knew everything about you.
When you were in daycare together, Kuroo stole all the attention. He would always cause trouble. You were smarter than he was, so he would always pick on you. He would call you brain or tug on your hair. One time, he cut your hair off when you were ignoring him. Regardless of all of this, you would still beg to play with him on the playground.
In elementary school, you got a bit lazy. Since people had established that you were smart at such a young age, you eventually stopped trying in school. You never stopped trying to impress Kuroo, though. You started playing all the games that he and Kenma would play in order to keep up with them. It was around this time that Kuroo and Kenma started playing volleyball. He would always gobble on and on about it, and you would always listen to him. Whenever he and Kenma practiced outside, you would watch them. At home, you would help him.
Your families would go to the beach together during the summers. You would play one on one beach volleyball with him even though you knew the outcome. You'd race him when you swam even though he was faster. You had watermelon eating contests with him even though he had a bigger appetite. You'd let him play Godzilla when you finished building your sandcastles. You'd smile as he took all the shells you collected from you. You spent many years at the beach with Kuroo, and you'd always do the same activities.
In junior high, Kuroo started to get serious about school. He wanted to keep up with you so you could end up at the same high school. Also, keeping up with you meant having you tutor him. Pretty quickly, Kuroo realized his academic potential. Instead of scolding him for wasting it, you decided that you better work hard, too. Due to his good grades, good looks, and athleticism, Kuroo started to become pretty popular.
It was then when he went through a phase of being self centered. He became a bit of a player, too. He tried dating a few different girls, but he never took the relationships seriously. When he was being a jerk to them or when they were being mean to you, you kept quiet. Eventually, since you had become a good girl with good grades, someone in your class asked you out.
It was then when the two of you became very different people, but stuck together nonetheless. When Kuroo needed to vent about his current girlfriend, you were there to listen. When you would ask him for advice about your boyfriend, he'd give you his most thoughtful answer. Eventually, Kuroo got tired of all of the high-maintenance and superficial girls he was seeing, and your boyfriend's ego inflated over time.
For the longest time, Kuroo had seen you as a little sister and at times a little brother figure. It wasn't until high school that he realized that all of the sudden, your face had matured, you had a different body, and your cooking tasted good. To you, Kuroo was immature and a bit wild, but he was also someone who you admired. It wasn't until high school that you realized that he's actually matured quite a bit, he was sort of handsome, and he was really really tall all of the sudden.
The two of you finally admitted your feelings to each other during a study session at his place. You were helping him with Math and Science, and he was helping you with Language and History.
"Hey, Tetsu, I don't understand what this poem means." you said.
"Show it to me." he said, looking over your shoulder.
You scooted closer to him, showing him your notebook.
"This one is read as 'I wish I were close to you as the wet skirt of a salt girl to her body. I think of you always.'" he recited.
"Weird." you said.
"Isn't it?" he agreed.
That strange poem gave Kuroo an idea.
"Remind me again why you're making me memorize the entire periodic table." he said.
"Because it'll make chemistry a whole lot easier for you." you responded.
"Do you have the whole thing memorized?" he asked you.
"You know I do." you said.
"I've never actually tested you." he said.
"Do it." you stated.
"What is Iodine?" he quizzed.
"I."
"Okay, how about a harder one like Livermorium?"
"Lv."
"Okay, now for three. Yttrium, Oxygen, and Uranium."
"Y, O, U."
"Now translate that from English to Japanese." he demanded.
The two of you were the perfect couple. Of course it seemed like it to everyone at school for the obvious reasons. You were childhood friends and neighbors. You were best friends. The two of you were in the same class all three years. You would walk to and from school together every day. You would cook him a bento every day. He was the captain of the volleyball team, and you were the manager. The two of you never seemed to get tired of each other.
Then, there were the not so obvious reasons. Both of you were pretty dorky, but neither of you would ever admit that. Kuroo was a pretty touchy person, but you weren't. However, you'd always snuggle up into him because he was 'big and warm'. And Kuroo made a lot of jokes that went like 'that's what she said'. You were never offended by his jokes and would always laugh at them. He loved your laugh.
He loved the way you looked in his big t-shirts. He loved your face when you fell asleep with your mouth open. He loved the look on your face when you were determined. He loved your expression when you'd let your creativity flow in the kitchen. He loved when you snuggled up against him like a little cat. It was cute.
He never understood why you put up with him after all these years. After all, he cut your hair in preschool, he played volleyball more than he played with you in elementary school, he never let you relax during summer vacation, and he dated other girls in front of you in junior high.
He didn't know what he did to deserve you, but he wanted you to continue to be by his side for forever.
Currently, it was your last summer vacation together before university. The two of you were at the beach, but you were in Kuroo's beach house. You were upstairs in his room with the fans blowing. You were sitting next to each other in silence. You were playing Pokemon X and he was playing Pokemon Sun.
"I finally beat the game!" you cheered.
"I thought you beat the game a while ago." he said, still focused on his game.
"I did. But I got all my Pokemon to level 100 without using a single piece of rare candy." you bragged.
"Well played. Let me see." he said, leaning closer to you.
He looked at your screen.

"And now I can finally start playing Pokemon Moon!" you exclaimed, opening up the packaging of the game.
You smiled and clicked that you were a girl on your little 3DS. Kuroo nervously twiddled his thumbs around the buttons of his 3DS XL.
"Hey, look at that. Two of my Pokemon are at level 69." he stated.
"Really?" you asked, moving towards the large male.
