My surgery is scheduled for tomorrow at nine in the morning. This was definitely going to be the worst Thanksgiving ever. Katelyn, James, and Drake came to the hospital at about ten that night.

“I’m going to spend the night with you and Jazzy here, and everyone else including Michael and Jake are going to spend the night at the house,” Katelyn informed me. I nodded and motioned for Drake and James to come to the side of my bed.

“What do you need us to do?” they wondered.

“Just so we’re clear, I’m not dating either one of you, but I do need both of you to be here for me. Whether it be moral support, a friend helping a friend, or if I need someone to lean on. Will you promise to be there?” They both nodded. “Now I need to go to sleep. See you tomorrow.”

They both kissed my cheeks. I rolled over in the hospital bed and eventually cried myself to sleep.

“Katelyn told me that Kynli is in surgery right now,” Carlos told us.

“Wow, they’re early. That’s good, right?” Hayden asked.

“Maybe. It could mean that the surgeon needed more time,” I chimed in.

“Or he saw how nervous Kynli was and took her in early to put her at ease,” Erin responded.

“Or we need to take our minds off it,” Michael added.

We all sat in silence. Even though we all knew it would be best to get our minds off of Kynli and her surgery, no one did. We couldn’t, it was too hard. I think it was mostly shock of the whole thing. Why would Marissa do this to Kynli? Did she like to see her in pain? Does she get some cruel joy out of seeing her suffer? All I know is that I never want to see her ever again.

“Let’s watch a movie or something,” Jake suggested.

“They said I can go home in a little while,” I told Logan.

“How long do you have to wear the cast?”

“Two weeks at the most.”

“If that’s true, we’ll get our casts off at the same time.” I gave him a hug and whispered in his ear.

“I already know who I’m going to choose.” Just then, the doctor came in.

“Kynli, you can leave. Oh, and you have a package.”

The doctor sat the gift on my bed. I grabbed it and opened it with my good hand and the help of Logan’s good hand.

“Oh my gosh,” I gasped.

“What?”

“It’s from James.”

“What is it?”

“It’s my favorite book, pictures of him and me, and… plane tickets.”

“Plane tickets to where?”

“It’s the plane tickets you guys bought to come here on your tour,” I breathed as the doctor peeked his head in.

“Kynli, you have a visitor.”

“I see you got my package,” James smiled, walking in.

I stood up from my bed and ran to him, giving him a hug with my good arm. He picked me up and I wrapped my legs around his waist as he spun us around. I held on tightly.
