Still Falling (A Hunter Hayes FanFic)

Chapter 9

Toni's POV

My face immediately turns pink. Of course we're dating, but whenever an interviewer asked, we always tried to steer clear of the question. We weren't ready to publicly announce that we are together, but come on, the whole world basically knows.

I look at our hands, our fingers intertwined with one another. I look up at his face, blushing a bright red. "Yes." I say coolly. Nicole hops up and down in her seat with excitement. "Ah, I knew it! So, how long?" Hunter answers this one. "We're going on 3 months." Nicole is even more ecstatic.

"That's fantastic! Antoinette, what's it like dating a big country star?" That question really got under my skin. It wasn't like I was drooling over him because he was a big star. These people don't know him like I do. They don't know that music isn't the only thing Hunter loves. He also loves flying planes, and he loves his family more than anything, and he'll put the people he loves before anything else. They just see him as this man with a golden voice and lots of money. But I see who he really is.

The interview drags on for what seems like forever. I just want to go to The Coffee House Experience and meet all of Hunter's fans. I know they probably don't want to meet me, but I'm still excited. Hunter and I leave as soon as the interview is over and head to the venue.

I look out the window as the tour bus pulls up. I see the long line of people waiting for the staff members at the show to open the doors. It's only 4:30pm, I can't believe the amount of people that are already here. They all love Hunter just as much as I do. And they are willing to stand in line for almost two hours just to hear his voice.

Hunter sneaks up behind me, putting his arms around my waist and resting his head on my shoulder, watching the people talk and laugh. "You ready to be attacked by fans?" he jokes. "You're gonna protect me, right?" I say, placing the back of my hand to my forehead, pretending to be a Damsel-in-Distress. He laughs then whirls me around and put his hand on my chin, skimming my jaw line with his index finger. "Always", he whispers, then kisses me quickly.

Hunter's POV

I hop off the bus and let it all sink in. I love doing this, I love traveling to new places and playing my music. I'm standing in front of the tour bus door when Nettie knocks me out of the way. "Move your butt, Hayes! I wanna see too!" She shouts in a little kid voice. She stands in front of me, her back facing me. She takes a deep breath. "Smells like hot dogs", she concludes. She's so random.

The guys are inside, getting ready for Nettie's set. I'm really excited to see her go on, she keeps everything a secret from me! We are brought down a series of long hallways until I heard a low buzzing, the voices of people. "Wait here for a sec." I say to Nettie before walking into the room filled with people who want to meet me. Coffee House always surprises me. We always manage to sell every seat, I wonder why though, why would anyone want to meet a whack job like me? I laugh at my own little comment and greet everyone, walking to each table to shake people's hands.

I talk with everyone for a while, then decided I should bring Nettie in. "Can you guys give my opening act a warm welcome? Everyone: Antoinette Grazen!" I point to the door and she slips in shyly. Everyone claps, including me. I hold out my arms, waiting for her embrace. It feels so good in her arms, we fit perfectly together. We break the hug and continue with the questions.

Toni's POV

"What's it like touring with Hunter and his bandmates?" A girl in the back asks me. There is no hesitation in my answer. "It's so amazing. At first, I thought the guys would just be people I was working with, but really, they are some of my best friends and I love them dearly." "We love you too, Toni!" Matt shouts from the back of the room. "If you could be anywhere in the world right now, where would it be?" "Truthfully?" Everyone nods their heads. "Right here", I say honestly. "With all of you, with Hunter. I wouldn't want to be anywhere else right now." I look at Hunter. He puts his arm around my shoulder, giving me a side-hug. I really want to stay here, but the show must go on.
