Rebekah's POV
"Wait! Sister?" Blaire blurted out after I spoke to Dawn. I sighed at yet another thing I've been hiding from them.
"Yes sister, Dawn is one hundred years younger than me. But since I was turned, she looks older. Daddy had her with a siren, so she was born half mermaid and half siren, that's why she looks different from me. She got her mother's appearance but daddy's attitude, which sometimes isn't a good thing." I told them.
"I grew up outside the castle and away from the kingdom up until my mother was murdered by humans. Father found me in a small cave trying to hide. Rebekah was with him, it was her first real swim outside the castle. She had just arrived a week prior to them finding me. Father realized it was me when he saw my birthmark, a trident. All royals has a symbol that's usually a birthmark of a crown or trident to show who they are." Dawn explained and her voice grew softer when she spoke of her mother.
I had actually met Dawn before father and I found her, but she didn't remember it. I also knew her mother. I met them both when I first entered the sea. Loriann had helped me find my way and introduced me to her daughter who was as shy as a mermaid could be. As a siren, I had expected to find a heartless creature who lures and drowns men. Yet, Loriann's cold heart had melted when it came to Dawn. When i was told we were going to find my half sister, who's mother was a siren and just murdered, I never expected it to be Dawn.
Dawn was a shy girl when she first found out that we shared the same father. It took around another one hundred years before she opened up and started showing a different side to herself. She then met Marcus and the two had hit it off.
Daddy trusted Marcus, since he had protected me from a young age. Plus merpeople age slower once they each the age of 18, so while Dawn look 19, Marcus looked 21. Marcus courted her for two years before asking my father for her hand in marriage, and when he asked Dawn of course she said yes.
"Rebekah question. Throughout the last thousand years, whenever Mikael was near us, he never once went after you?" Elijah asked me. I nodded and turned to answer him.
"Yes, the day before we fled after we were turned, mother and Mikael took me aside and told me everything. He said just because I was turned with the rest of you, I wouldn't become a monster and would soon join my father underwater. When I ran a hundred years after, the year you first learned of the daggers and what they did to us, I fled once again to the seas. I had watched you dagger Finn, I didn't want to be next, though it didn't help, when I returned the next century, I met my first dagger." I smiled sadly remembering everything vividly.
"And may I ask where you father is?" CaseyLynn asked me, and sadly I answered as Dawn turned away as tears filled her eyes.
"Merpeople age slower than humans and can live up to a million years, but sadly my father had some complications last year. He was the oldest merman alive and our enemies took advantage of that." That's all I said as I rubbed Dawn's back, as choked up as Dawn was, I was worse.
When my father died two hundred years ago, I was up on land. I got a message three days after his passing, I never got to say goodbye. I had went down there for a week for his funeral and days after my crowning as the official Queen.
My family knew after I said that, to not question it anymore. I shook it off and realized that the feast should be set up by now.
"But let's get off sad topics. Come, I'm plenty sure that the feast I requested is in place, and I don't know about you, but I'm famished." I smiled and starting off to the dining hall.
I swam past the pictures in the hallways and smiled upon seeing myself as a younger girl, before I became queen and before my father died. Me, dad, and Dawn posing in pictures, Dawn and I sitting on our smaller versions of throne next to daddy's bigger throne. The one's of just Dawn and me.
The others followed, as Dawn went off to find her children, the group of merkids who surrounded me when I got back. The guard in front of the dining hall opened the doors for us and I swam through, seeing that Terra had done as I requested and a feast fit for an army was placed upon the table.
I saw the side doors open, Alana, Marcus and Dawn with the kids swam through and waited by their seats. I got to the head of the table and waved my brothers, niece, and friend to the chairs at the other end. I made sure to place Blaire next to my nephew Felix, the oldest of the children, who is Blaire's age.
I sat and everyone followed suit. Of course before I talked I made sure all my workers were in the other dining hall eating as well as us. When I was positive they were, I cut my connection and turned to my family.
"Please, dig in." Without second thoughts, the children quickly started filling their plates as I watched.
"Well sister, the day is almost at an end. What is in tomorrow's plans?" Dawn and Elijah asked at the same time.
"First, I'm going to take Blaire to the training room. Spend a hour with her working on the powers I know she has. Next the children, Blaire included can spend the hours from 10 until 2 getting to know each other while Marcus shows my brothers around, and the two of us get caught up and do some planning. Then, all of us are going into the city, Alana has informed me that her family is putting on a show and I would love to see them again." I told them.
They nodded and got to eating, the children were talking, Felix and Blaire seemed to get along. The younger ones were laughing at their father and Dawn stared lovingly at her husband and children. Nik, Elijah, and CaseyLynn started a conversation with Alana, asking her the questions going through their heads. I ate in silence while watching everyone.
From the head of the table I gazed through the window, after I finished eating, and saw a statue of my father. I got up from my chair and turned to everyone. "If you will excuse me for a while. Nik, Elijah, Blaire, Casey. Marcus and Dawn will show you the rooms you will stay in. I'll see everyone in the morning. Goodnight."
I swam through the doors of the dining hall and the doors of the back-way. Swimming through the garden I stopped in front of the statue. Tears swarmed my eyes as I dropped to the ground in front of it and started talking.
"I'm home daddy. I don't know if it's for good this time or not. I have missed so much since I was gone, and I will never forgive myself for not being here for your last days. Dawn and Marcus's family has gotten bigger, Felix is around 10 now, and the younger ones are just as fun as their mother. I miss you daddy, so much. I wish I could see you again one day, but even if I stay here I'm still immortal since mother turned my siblings and me. The only thing that could kill me was destroyed and I now have no way of being killed. I'm trying to do what you asked of me, finding a suitable man and having a family, but I'm afraid to. I'm afraid that if I open myself and love someone, our enemies will attack them as they tried to attack us and Dawn. My niece is the one of the prophecy daddy. She was just turned. I'm starting her training tomorrow, so hopefully she will be ready to fight by my side for our home. I will not let our home crumble, I promise you that. I will fight until the last of the earth collapses, I will fight until I die. I will save our people, I will save our family, and I will live up to the standards everyone has set for me. It was good talking to you daddy, I'll be back soon. I love you." I got up and saw the dark night, I had been out here for a few hours.
I swam back inside and toward my room. I could heard my nieces and nephews sleeping in their rooms, Marcus and Dawn were talking, my brothers were sleeping, as well as Blaire. CaseyLynn was looking out her window toward the dark water.
I got to my room and went in, getting into bed and laying my head on my pillow. I meant what I said outside, I will protect and save my people, even if someone finds a way to kill me, I would die for them. They're my family and family will always be protected.
