Eyes more blue then the sea, skin as soft as silk, graceful as a ballerina yet strong like an ox. Those were what came to mind when Evan thought of the mysterious mermaid that saved him.
The second day came and the group decided they were going to head out to the shopping district. They checked out a gaming store and bought a few then moved into the food court.
And that's where Sydney was.
She stood with her friends waiting in line for food. Evan saw her first and ducked away before she could get her hands on him.
"Evan, where you going?" Tyler called as he disappeared into the crowd. Lui elbowed him in the stomach. "ow! What was that for?"
"can't you see Sydney standing over there?" he scolded, pointing towards her.
"oh," he scratched the back of his head. "sorry."
"guys, want do you want to eat? Since Evan ditched us, should we get something for him?" Brian asked.
"yeah." Tyler nodded.

Evan decided he'd take a walk instead of dealing with Sydney. She was nice but she did need to take a hint. He told her several times that he won't go out with her and that she needed to move on and find someone else instead. But she refused to accept it.
His walk lead him to the beach again, where he last saw the beautiful blue eyed boy. Evan still couldn't get them out of his head, and now looking at the ocean just reminded him of him again.
Deciding to continue his walk along the sand. He watched as children played and made sand castles, the adults sunbathed on towels while teens swum in the ocean. He sat in the shade of a rock, just enjoying the peace. And without realising it, he fell asleep.
He woke up a few hours later by squawking seagulls. Evan rubbed his eyes, looking around to see barely anyone there. The last few who were there were packing up and leaving.
Evan stood up and noticed the sun setting over the ocean. The sky was lit up in an array of reds, yellows, oranges, blues and purples.
It was beautiful.
A muffled voice broke Evan from his thoughts. Looking around to see if anyone was there. No one. But he was sure he heard someone.
"come on, this way." an excited voice called from behind the rock.
Evan turned around and climbed the rock, wondering who was behind it. What was behind it was ocean, but there was also two people there.
"I don't think this is a good idea Jon. If we get caught, I'm holding you responsible." the second said.
"don't worry, we'll be find, as long as you don't say anything to anyone else, we'll be OK." the first voice replied.
On a closer look, Evan felt like he's seen one of them before. Squinting, Evan did recognise one of them.
It was the boy with blue eyes.
His tail splashing water at his companion.
"stop that Jonathan!" the second was wiping water from his face.
"baby," so called Jonathan pouted.
Deciding he had enough of the silence, Evan spoke up, "what are you guys doing?"
The two froze, looking up. Jonathan instantly recognised Evan and blushed while his friend blurted out "human!" surprising both of them.
Jonathan quickly covered up his friends mouth and restrained him, a pink tail splashing about in the struggle.
"it's OK, this is the human I met," Jonathan hushed.
"sorry, I didn't mean to scare you." Evan smiled. "I'm Evan, I didn't catch your name last time."
"i-I'm Jonathan." he replied.
"nice to finally meet you, Jonathan." he smiled.
"oh, and this is Craig." Jonathan gestured to the man in his arms.
"nice to meet you." Evan smiled warmly.
Craig bowed his head, "nice to meet you to."
"so, um." Jonathan paused, letting Craig go.
"can I ask you a question?" Evan wondered, seating himself on the edge. They nodded. "are you guys mermaids?"
The two in the water looked at each other before bursting out laughing. Jonathan was the first to speak up. "the correct term is merman for the males. " He sat up onto the rock behind him Craig followed suit. There tails shimmering in the late sun light.
"oh, sorry." Evan muttered, rubbing the back of his neck.
"it's fine." Craig waved off.
They began to talk about things, it was mostly just Evan answering questions about how humans interact on a daily basis and what he does for a living. Evan didn't realize how late it got until he heard a familiar voice shout.
"HEY EVAN!"
"uh-oh," Evan began to turn around to see Tyler walking towards him.
"who is it?" Jonathan whispered.
"Tyler, he's my friend." Evan replied.
"who are you talking to?" Tyler asked much closer, in fact he was on the rock with Evan, peering over the edge just in time to see a splash.
"no one, come on." Evan stood up, tugging a dumbfound Tyler.

They made it back to there room, Lui and Brian were playing in their laptops when they came back.
"hey guys, sorry I ran off. I got a little sidetrack." Evan apologized.
"he was at the beach talking to someone but I did get a good look before they disappeared." Tyler stated.
"well, we brought you back some lunch but since you didn't come back, Lui ate it." Brian said.
"he was taking forever, it's not my fault I got hungry." Lui whined.
"oh yeah, that reminds me, I'm hungry." Evan smiled.
———-———
"aren't you glad we went?" Jonathan asked.
Craig say there on his bed blushing, covering his face with his hands. "we are in so much trouble." his voice filled with dread replied.
