Evan had tried to avoid Tyler's gaze for the longest time now. It was their last day at the beach and they decided to visit an arcade. Lui and Brian had wondered off while Evan was stuck with Tyler. Though it was somehow normal and nothing weird happened, Evan would avoid Tyler whenever he tried to bring up what happened last night.

Eventually, Tyler had enough.

"OK man, your gonna start explaining shit to me. Who were you talking to yesterday?" Tyler folded his arms across his chest.

Evan sighed. "OK, promise you won't tell anyone about this?"

"why?"

"it's important."

"alright."

"the people I was talking to were merman."

"as in mermaids?"

"they prefer the term mermen."

Silence.

Tyler burst out laughing. He was laughing so hard tears were streaming down his face and he was wheezing.

"man, I can't believe you man, you almost had me," he wiped his tears and patted Evan's shoulder before walking off. 

Evan wasn't phased, he knew Tyler wouldn't believe him and that was OK. He could pretend that it was his little secret.

He smiled walking off.

Evan had just finished packing his black duffle bag, sighing. He did want to go to the beach again. He went during lunch, but Jonathan didn't come. when it was time to go, Evan left disappointed.

Slinging the strap over his shoulder, he headed out to meet the other students making their way down to the bus.

"your eager to leave," Brian said.

"not really," Evan said defeated.

"still hung up on that imaginary girlfriend you meet on the beach?" Lui smirked.

"no," Evan groaned.

"must be, you were talking about her being mermaids or some shit yesterday," chuckled Tyler, rolling out with his suitcase being him.

They burst out laughing as laughing, including Evan, even though he was slightly annoyed about Tyler's comment.

They boarded the bus and headed back to school where they'll be picked up by there parents.

"you both went to the surface?" Brock beamed, "what was it like Craig?"

"scary, we met the same human Jon did," his head was bowed, slightly ashamed.

"what was his name?" Brock asked.

"Evan," Jonathan smiled. "we also got to meet one of his friends, I think his name was Tyler, but I didn't get a good look at his face though."

"does he have other friends?" David asked.

"not sure, I'll have to asked," Jon replied.

"you guys are so unfair!" Brock pouted, "next time tell me when your going to go, there's a spell I found that I really want to try."

"OK," Jon nodded.

"anyway, I have to get back to work," Brock said, he headed towards the door, David giving a wave before headed towards the door.

they waved good bye as they left.

"we are so lucky that they haven't told anyone about this." Craig said.
