i have never fallen for someone, truly fallen for them.
i have never given them the chance to break me.
i have never experienced the kind of pain poems are written with,
yet despite this i am a poet.
i understand that pain
because i have felt it a million times over,
with a million different people.
for this is what happens when you are a collector of words.
you are never one person.
you are every single person you have ever read.
you feel their pain, their happiness.
and you create your own pain and happiness out of it,
you write your own words.
as i will do,
a million times over.
