when i ruled the world

when i ruled the world
i had a crown atop my head.
a crown that signified i was the one,
the only one.
when i ruled the world
i was never ignored.
i was always at the center, the pull of gravity itself.
when i ruled the world
i did not care to show that i did.
i thought i would be queen forever.
i have learned nothing lasts forever.
when i ruled the world
i had you.
then she took me off my throne,
took the crown from my head.
the same gravity that pulled you to me pulled me under.
and i resurfaced when i learned to rule myself.
