The Hidden Heiress [1]

“Nerd, watch where you’re going!” Blair, the queen bee of our school yelled at me. I picked up my books that fell when she ‘accidentally’ bumped into me.

“I’m sorry.”

I heard her mutter whatever, then her heels clicked away. I slowly walked towards the classroom, avoiding people who are trying to bring me down. I have been bullied since grade school and it never stopped until now.  I was five minutes early at my Literature class. I just bent my head down and walked at my chair at the back of the room.

The first bell rang indicating students should proceed to their respective classrooms before the second bell. The former silent room is now crowded with boisterous students trying to chit- chat about what they did during the weekends. Mr. Webber entered the room looking smug as usual.

“Students, go back to your seats. We have a new student.” That got all our attention, it’s the middle of November and there’s a new student? Wow, way too start her new school year. The boys started whispering.

“I hope it’s a girl.” One boy said.

“She should be hot.” Another one snickered.

“I don’t care really, as long as the new student isn’t ugly.” Blair remarked looking superior.

Mr. Webber cleared his throat and continued. “Our academy is known to have the children of politicians, business owners, and the rich class…” our teacher trailed off about how expensive the tuition at our school is. I would admit, our school’s tuition is very expensive and I can’t afford it so I applied to be a scholar, I was happy I was accepted in this school, no matter what words the rich students insult me with. I listened to Mr. Webber again.

“This student, she is the next heir to the Merdana kingdom…” with that sentence, everyone gasped and started fake fainting. I even heard someone scream.

“Oh My God! The princess is here!” Blair started flailing her hands like a wild duck trying not to be killed. I just gaped at Mr. Webber, is it true? Is the princess here? Wow, this is just beyond my wildest dreams.

“Class, please. Let’s show her a bit of breeding.” Mr. Webber adjusted his spectacles, and began pointing to the door. “ Everyone let me introduce, Princess Ardana of Merdana!” Mr. Webber started clapping his hands; the class followed Mr. Webber looking at the redhead standing in front of us. It’s Princess Ardana!

Some are speechless and some are grinning like idiots. One of those idiots is Blair who is acting like Princess Ardana is her best friend.

“You should sit beside me!” Blair squealed but Ardana told her to wait. Ha, way to go Princess.

“I want to introduce myself, I’m Ardana from Merdana. Please refrain from calling me Princess.” She chuckled and looked at Mr. Webber.

“Shall I seat now?” She asked.

“Of course Princes…I mean Ardana.” Mr. Webber stuttered, Ardana walked towards Blair and she sat next to her. Oh, she will still seat beside that Blair.

Mr. Webber now started discussing about ‘Comedy of Errors’ by Shakespeare. I listened attentively trying to ignore the chuckles coming from Blair and Ardana. I don’t mean to be rude but it’s infuriating, can’t they just listen to Mr. Webber? I turned my attention to Mr. Webber trying to concentrate.

“Can anyone tell me the summary to the Comedy Of Errors, Act II, scene I?” Mr. Webber asked.  I raised my hand the second he asked the question, participation gives big points to my grade.

“Anyone else besides Hannah?” I sighed; I was the only one whose hand is raised. No one is listening to Mr. Webber; everyone is busy gawking at the Princess. I started mumbling to myself.

“Me. Me. Me.”

Mr. Webber finally gave up and I gave him the answer, hoping I impressed the princess; I sat down with a smirk plastered on my face. But that smirk disappeared when I heard the Princess mutter.

“What a nerd.”

~Thank you for reading! The story might start out a bit boring but the next chapters will be more exciting and it will make you hate Princess Ardana! :D Watch out for Chapter 2 and 3! :))
