The Hidden Heiress [5]

“What’s happening Martha? Why is there a school assembly?” The students are crowding over the bulletin board, they said there’s an assembly today at the covered court and I don’t know why. When I got closer to the bulletin board, there’s a poster that says the royal family will visit our school.

“Look at Blair, she thinks she’s part of the royal family.” I peeked at Blair and saw her shrieking frantically, applying lip gloss and mountains of foundation on her tanned face. She looks like a disco ball with her now pale complexion.

I chuckled at Martha. Students are now forming a line going to the covered court, I lined behind Martha, I saw Matt with his soccer friends, he waved at me and I waved back at him.

“Matt is so dreamy.” I heard Martha murmur; I just smiled at her when we suddenly fell back on the floor. I cried in pain, my back still hurts from the fall last night.

“Oh sorry dorks, I just stumbled on something. You two should line at the very back, far away from me? I don’t want you two infecting me with your disease.” Blair insulted us. I can hear Martha whimpering, I told her to stop crying, her tears aren’t worth Blair’s devilishness.

“Back off Blair.” I heard Matt defending us. He helped both of us up, Martha blushed when Matt’s hand touch hers. Blair saw it and gave Martha her death glare.

“Oh Puh-lease Martha, you have no chance with Matt.” Before anyone of us could say something, Blair walked off when she saw her bitchy friends heading towards the covered court.

“Are you two okay?” I nodded, but Martha answered.

“Y-y-yes and t-th-anks.” Martha stuttered, Matt just laughed and told us he still have to practice for soccer.

“But you would miss the royal family!” I yelled at him while he was dashing off towards the field.

“I don’t care!” He yelled back chuckling.

“We should go on.” I pulled Martha away from the line and headed for the nearest shortcut, which is passing by the sewing lab.

“Why are we passing here?” Martha asked looking worried.

“To avoid the big crowd.” We climbed down the stairs so we could pass by the sewing lab, when we were passing by the lab, we heard voices talking inside the sewing room; we hid behind the window of the lab and listened to the conversation going on inside.

“What exactly are we doing?” Martha whispered feeling uncomfortable at our bent down positions.

“Trying to listen to the conversation taking place inside, keep quiet.” She leaned her head on her knees trying to lessen the pain at our cramped position. I tried to listen to the talk inside.

“Do you know where she is?” I can tell by the voice that it’s an old woman speaking. Her voice sounded aged and husky.

“Yeah, she attends school here.” I heard a gasp came out of Martha’s mouth, I told her to keep quiet.

“That was Ardana’s voice.” Martha mouthed at me looking astonished.

“I know.”  The conversation kept on going on between Ardana and the old lady.

“Princess Sofia is still alive.” Old lady said in an anger tone.

“What? I thought she’s dead?” Ardana’s voice sounded tense, I smiled at myself, but isn’t Princess Sofia the queen’s daughter that died seventeen years ago?

“An informant told me she’s now living in the city, trying to find her daughter.” Princess Sofia has a daughter? Is she the other princess Sean was talking about?

“I know her daughter, I will keep her away from the throne.” Wow Ardana, you really are an antagonist.

“Make sure you keep her away or she’ll steal the throne away from you. You can’t let her be the queen darling.”

“I’ll make sure of that mother.”

“Let’s go Martha, they might see us.” I pulled Martha away and we climbed down a new flight of stairs going down the basement. We both were scared of what we heard from Princess Ardana and her mother.

“My God, Princess Sofia has a daughter?” Martha said slowly keeping her voice down.

“I think so, no one knew she was pregnant. Do you know what that means?” She shook her head clueless of what the shocking fact is behind the newfound truth.

“It means Princess Ardana won’t be the queen if Princess Sofia’s daughter is really true!”

“We should find her!”

“That’s absurd, we don’t even know a lot about Princess Sofia.”  I rubbed my temples checking my watch, five minutes to go before the assembly.

“There’s google Hannah, we can search Princess Sofia there.”

“Right, of course.” I feel like an idiot now, but Internet isn’t really reliable right? We should find Princess Sofia on historic books in the library.

“We should get going or we’ll be late for the assembly.” Martha took my hand and we hurried our footsteps towards the covered court.

I hope we can find the rightful heir to the throne.
