~~~~~~~~~~~~Two Days Later
"Come on, you're gonna get us caught." I groan as Liam pulls me behind a tree. We're skipping class. I know it's bad but he insisted on taking be on a lunch date. I agreed, obviously. This is going to be our second date. Yesterday was our first date, he took me to dinner at a barbecue place to try it out. It was my first time ever eating barbecue and honestly, it was delicious! It was a bit sweet and smokey with a twist of spices. Liam really knows how's to treat a lady. He was a little nervous- I could tell- maybe because it wasn't a fancy restaurant that I'm used to. I still loved it. Liam pushes me in he car and quickly goes to his side and gets in. I really don't know why Liam is in such a rush, really. They don't care if we skip or not, as long as they get their pay, it's all good. Liam goes to his other side and drives off to a mystery destination.
"Where are we going?" I ask.
"Wonderland." Liam answers with a small smirk. He doesn't ever stop smirking. I huff. Liam glances at me and says, "be nice."
"I'm getting tired of waiting, tell me where we're going or I'll jump out this car." Liam chuckles.
"My God. I've met tons of girls like you but they're from the South, I know girls from the South are a bit temperamental, but you're British!" He says in amazement. I purse my lips.
"Haven't you ever heard that there are two types of British people- according to superstitions- there's the Brits who drink a lot and fight a bit? Then there's the Brits who gather around and drink tea and live in harmony?" He nods.
"Yeah well I'm not one of those nice Brits." I conclude. Liam laughs.
"So you're saying you can't hold your liqueur and fight a lot? The legal age to drink is twenty-one" Liam looks at me, amused.
"I said I'm not nice, and besides, in one more year, I can legally drink in the UK." Liam hums.
"Well if you haven't noticed yet, we're not in England anymore." He says in the tone that Dorothy used. I laugh quietly.
"Anyway, I'm going to teach you how to be nice." I roll my eyes.
"Why are you so dead set on turning me to be nice?" I wonder. Liam grabs my hand and laces his fingers through mine as he glances at me.
"I don't want to change you, don't think I'm trying to do that. All I am hoping for is for you to be a little more sweeter and nicer- I know there's a lot that you've been through to make you hard and build a wall, but I'm going to try to break that wall down- but I can't do that if you don't let me. I'm sorta hoping that you won't push me away if you're nicer." My heart beats faster.
"Why?" I ask quietly. He stops as we reach a red light. He turns his head to look at me. He gazes into my eyes completely, making me feel warm and fuzzy inside. My heart beats erratically and I feel butterflies swarm my stomach in a frenzy. He grazes my hand softly.
"Because I'm falling for you each day, and when I tell you those three words of affection, I don't want you to push me away and hurt me by not reciprocating the same feelings. I really am falling for you and it scares me to death because I've never felt this way about anybody, ever. You're doing things to me, British girl, I'm not too sure how I feel about this. But I do know that I like this it." My eyes water. I nibble on my bottom lip. This is my second chance at love. I want to love again, I know that I pushed away Nathan. But I don't want to push away anybody else. It's time for me to learn to love again. But first, I need to be a little nicer. I reach across the seat and kiss him. He smiles into our kiss. A loud beep is heard from behind Liam's car along with a shout from the driver. Liam mumbles something below his breath. I know it has to do with them being raised by drug dealers. A few minutes later, he pulls up in a parking lot of a park. I crease my brow. Why are we in a park? Liam gets out and opens my door before I can. I smile at him and look around. There's a lot of sight seeing I need to do. I haven't seem New York completely. Liam slithers his hand in mine. I feel something rough. I frown a little and lift his hand to my eyesight. I widen my eyes a little as I see he has tiny scars on them, a bit of scratches. I lightly run my finger on them. Why does he have scars on the palms of his hands? I hear him sigh and he leads me to a bench.
