it's better to reign in hell than to serve in heaven
-unknowncole took in the man's words, and was wondering what the hell he meant by "getting him help".
"what the hell does 'getting me help' mean?" he snapped.
harold stared wide-eyed at the boy "i mean, i found a professional mental rehabilitation center in Clearview that specializes in people like you" harold stated wearily.
cole was contemplating wether or not to go along with this, and give it a try, or shut down the idea completely. "so what you are saying is that you're sending me to rehab because i'm a troubled bad boy" he said, his tone laced with amusement.
harold let out a throaty chuckle, pushing his black rimmed glasses farther up the bridge of his nose, "something like that, sure. but, mr.fullton, we would have to leave quite soon so you would have to start packing immediately." he said
cole furrowed his brows as he thought... a new start. a new story. he could change things, and get better. sounds tempting. but he wouldn't want to leave lisa all alone. he is all she has. he glances at her worried face, and as if reading his mind, she said,
"don't worry about me, hon, i'll be fine. i have misty" she gestured to the old calico cat, who was eying cole.
cole replied wearily, "are you sure, lisa? i don't want you to be lonel-" lisa cut him off before he could finish.
"don't you dare say the 'l' word to me. i was alone for many many years before you came along. i think i'll manage without you for a little while" she said with a small smile.
cole returned the gesture, nodding his head, giving a quick hug to lisa, then scurried up the wooden stairs to his bedroom. he quickly packed everything he needed into a suit case and a duffel bag, containing his wardrobe (which consisted of t shirts, jeans, hoodies, and leather jackets) his shoes (yes, all 4 pairs) a few pictures of his mother, and one picture of his mother with (who he thought) was his father. cole doesn't remember him much. he left when cole was just four years old. he just carries around the picture as a little sign of hope that he might come back, and cole can have somebody to care for and be connected to. but it probably won't happen.
cole quickly checked his now stripped room to see if he forgot anything, then darted downstairs to say goodbye to lisa. when he reached her, he set down his bags and engulfed her in a huge bear hug and a kiss on the cheek. after the goodbyes and the i'll miss you's, cole finally got into the car with harold, and they were off.

about 45 minutes into the trip, cole decides to tune out the silence by listening to music. most people think that cole listens so hardcore rap or punk rock music but to be honest cole has the same music taste as a teenage girl going through a breakup. all sad slow songs. so cole picked the scientist by coldplay. he then forgot about everything and just focused on the music. finally he wasn't focused on the pain.after listening to a couple more songs on repeat, cole and harold finally pulled up on the asphalt parking lot of langston view. the building was big, but it wasn't modern with big windows and big doors, it looked very old and almost scary- like. but it had this safe feeling to it, that cole grazed over the fact that it looked very wary. he got out of the car and collected all of his belongings. he then just stood outside of the car, taking in the view in front of him. taking a deep breath, he took one step forward, and said,
"let's do this thing"
sorry this is so short but it's late and the other chapters will be longer i promise:)) xM💋
