Robyn's POV

*next morning*

I woke up the next morning, hoping last night was just a dream with the phone call and all the crying, or everything was just a dream at this point.

Elyse & Alicia ended up sleeping with me in my bed every night instead of their own beds in the next room, which made me happy.

I hopped in the shower, with myself already getting worried about the phone call soon from those people. I couldn't waste much time today, so I quickly washed myself and got out of the shower in 10 minutes, which is a new record for me.

I combed my black curly hair today to be able to straighten it, and grabbed whatever clothes I had left in my suitcase.

It was already 10am, and the girls were surprisingly still sleeping. Weird.

My phone ring, and I moved slowly towards it on my nightstand. It had to be the assholes that wanted their money....I was already shaking as I walked slowly towards it.

"M-mommy..." Elyse yawned, waking up at the sound of my phone ringing.

I glanced at it and saw Chris' name, making me sigh in relief. I could call him back in a few minutes...

"Good morning sweetie." I kissed her forehead.

"Are you feeling better??" She asked and I nodded. Hearing their soft voices always made me feel better.

My phone rang again in my hand, as it was Chris once again. I turned the TV on for her and put the volume on low. She was already giggling once she saw Spongebob on the screen.

"Hey." I answered it calmly as I went into the bathroom and sat on the bathroom counter, with the door open so I could see Elyse.

"Good morning. How are you? What are your plans tonight??" Chris asked me, wanting to know.

"I could be better to be honest. And well, just waiting for a call on what to do with the money. That's pretty much it." I lowered my voice.

"Are you just staying at Nicki's for the holiday?" He questioned and I scratched my head, wondering what day it even was.

"Huh??" I laughed.

"It's the Fourth of July! Fireworks, cookouts, the day America was-" He was about to explain to me as if I never heard of the holiday

"Oh!!! I can't believe that's today." I sighed, looking at Alicia as she was rubbing her eyes, waking up.

"I guess I'll come over soon with the money....I'm surprised Nicki & Michael didn't tell you about the big party they have every year for this holiday." He told me.

"Yeah, they never told me about it, well yet anyways. I'll see you later. Bye Chris." I laughed and got off the bathroom counter.

"Bye Robyn. Love y-" I hung up and stared at the phone for a second. Was he about to say...nahh...it's all in your head Robyn....

"Good morning Mommy. It's firework day!!!" She giggled happily.

"Yay!!!" I said with enthusiasm, sitting in between the girls, watching TV with them for a while.

After a few episodes, the kids & I went downstairs, hoping there would be breakfast on the table, or if they already put everything away.

Luckily everyone else was at the table and smiled at us as we came. This place was crowded as hell though...especially since it looked like everyone had their day off.

I made the kids their breakfast plates and went towards the living room since the whole kitchen was full with all the adults. And yes, I mean it was full as hell!!!

They were talking about business, money, court days...basically stuff that wasn't any of my business and didn't concern me. I really had to move out sooner or later of this crowded house.

I planned on moving out of here after tomorrow or something....somewhere safe. I just don't want to be around those nasty crooks and never have to worry about them again. I still can't believe they followed me to California!!!

This is one of the millions of reasons why I NEED a man in my life again. To protect my girls & I from this...I can't do this alone.

Even though Chris was at the moment, he wouldn't want to be with me or be in my life forever. He probably just thinks of me as "the friend that changed him in a matter of 2 days". Which was probably what all his old coworkers thought of me, as if I had some kind of magical power.

"I'll be right back girls..." I sighed hearing my phone vibrate from my pocket. That was definitely the call....

I closed the bathroom door, and sat on the closed toilet seat, answering the call slowly.

"Hello. We know you told someone about us. We now want 1 million at 24th Ave by the Cisco gas station corner. Be ALONE, and have the money in CASH by tomorrow, July 5th 2017 at midnight. If not, we'll be at your house in the morning, and we'll take it from the mansion your living at. Do the right thing for your family, Robyn." The phone hung up and I panicked.

How did they know I told someone?! I was so careful!!!!! AND I HAD TO BE ALONE?!! 1 MILLION?! I can't take all this stress!!!!!

I immediately called Chris, trying to hold my tears in, waiting for him to pick up.

"Hey Robyn, look I'm sorry for saying-" I interrupted him by talking loudly over him.

"I need a million dollars now!!!! They know I talked to you about this!! I'm so so so sorry..." I cried, trying to stop before someone could hear me and start banging on the bathroom door.

"Oh alright, it's okay Robyn! You know I've got the money! I promised you everything is gonna be alright!! I'm gonna drop the money off for you at wherever they want and-"

"I have to be alone...." I cut him off and he was quiet for a few seconds.

"Well I have to be there with you, period. Something could happen to you if you're all alone." Chris told me.

"I have to respect their orders!!! I can't just- just...ugh. I'm not gonna let them beat me to death like they did to Dave!!!" I looked at myself in the mirror as sweat was practically raining down from my forehead.

"Well since they know that I know, we've gotta tell the rest of Michael's family about this. I'm going to ask Michael if I can stay over tonight to make sure our plan for tomorrow is ready. Okay?" Chris said in his sweet voice, which made me blush a little and feel more safe.

"Okay." I said calming down, hearing a bang at the door that made me jump.

"Mommy!! Are you in there?!" Alicia knocked loudly.

"I'll see you soon, thank you so much Chris." I quickly hung up and opened the door.

"Mommy, why is their water on your forehead?" She looked up at me and I laughed, picking her up.

"Mommy was just sweaty in the bathroom, that's all." I kissed her forehead and went into the living room.

"Oh! Robyn!! I forgot to tell you about the party tonight!" Nicki came from downstairs, eagerly wanting to tell me about it.

I nodded at her and put Alicia next to Elyse in the living room. I quickly wiped whatever sweat was on my forehead with my shirt before she saw me.

"What we doing tonight?" I grinned, trying to act like everything was perfectly fine. Which absoutely isn't....
