I waited by the train station in the west part of town. In the west, they ask no questions and the need no answers.
I have everything in my bag that I need to survive for a while. I look at my watch, Skye was supposed to come any minute. I'm doing this for her.
Basically, she's my girlfriend by her parents doesn't agree with me and the ambitions I opened her eyes too. Because of me, she wants to become a photographer. But according to them "it's not a proper job". So we're running away together and I'm going to help her to launch her Photography career, she actually has a meeting with a magazine company today so we really need to get going. The only person who knows about this is my Aunt Karrie; she's giving us a place to stay for a while.
My Aunt Karrie cut herself off from the family a year ago when they tried to put her in a hospital because they thought she had a mental disorder. So she bought a flat in New York and cut contact with the family.
I saw Skye running through the crowds looking beautiful with a messy bun and no makeup. Just in time for the train.
"I'm so sorry I'm late, I had to sneak out of the house with this massive backpack," she said breathlessly
"It's fine, at least your here now" I hugged her as the train screeched to a halt.
We got out tickets out and found a quiet place to sit and watch the scenery and take out one way trip to New York. Skye took this perfect opportunity to take some pictures and build up her portfolio for potential clients. The ride out to New York was pretty long so Skye ended falling asleep on my shoulder for the rest of the journey. She looked so peaceful that it hurt me to wake her up before our stop. She was fine but the nerves started to hit...
"What if this all goes wrong? What if I don't pass this interview?" Skye asked her eyes wide with fear.
"It won't," I told her trying to sound strong "you'll ace the interview"
"Really?"
"Really, anyway this is our stop. We're finally in New York!"
We practically ran off the train out into the busy pavements of New York City instantly and marveled at the beauty. Skye snapped a few more pictures before we set off to my aunt's flat.
My bag started to get heavy after a while and my back started to ache. All I have in there are a laptop, charger and a few pairs of clothes. I can't wait to get to Aunt Karrie's flat.
I'm an aspiring writer so I can really take my job anywhere which is good for Skye as she will have to travel a lot if this career becomes as successful as I think she will become. I mostly write fantasies and I post them on free websites where I can share my stuff, still no money though.
The journey to the flat took around an hour and when I got in I just wanted to sleep. Except I have to be there for my girl.
I hardly got to see Aunt Karrie before we got a cab to the magazine company for Skye's interview. I could see the nerves written all over her face as she was lead into a meeting room. I, however, was made to wait in the reception area till she comes back and I'm scared for her. I took her months to get this interview; I really hope she gets it.
Now I just have to wait.
