I woke up to the sound of Skye's Alarm. A bad way to be brought into the harsh reality of the world. I kissed her on the head and let her sleep for another minute or two before waking her up. I didn't want her to be late. I know how important this was for her.

I gently shook her to wake her. I turns out that we'd slept past 2 alarms already. I wanted this day to be perfect for her... now she's just late and it's partly my fault. I helped get her stuff together and waved goodbye as she climbed into a cab.

What should I do now?

I have to be realistic... my writing not going to support me. I really should go find a job. The sooner Skye and I move out, the better.

That brings me to a thought, where is Aunt Karrie?

She might have a job, there's no need to worry. I check in her room to see if she was there. No luck... it's fine. She's a working professional and I don't need to worry about her. I need to worry about myself and Skye.

I pull out my laptop and start searching for jobs around here. There isn't much on offer by the looks of it, most people are begging for a job in a city this big. I just have to join them and pray to God that I can sustain myself in this expensive city or I'm getting kicked out onto the streets faster than I can actually get a job.

*1 hour later*

I search google for a while before I find an interview for a nearby bookstore. It seems perfect so I read the requirements and details about the interviews.

Interviews will be from 12 pm until 3 pm

You must be at least 16 to apply for this job positions.

The application will be there on the day.

You must have a pure passion for working here and being able to treat all customers with respect and help them when needed.

Thank you for reading and we hope to see you at the interviews tomorrow.

I looked at my watch, it was 11:33. I had around half an hour to kill before interviews start. My stomach rumbled. God in needed some proper food.

I gathered up some a few dollars and decided to explore the city. I can't get that lost right?

I grab my stuff and go down the stairs (because the elevator apparently "doesn't work") and walk out in the city. I can smell various different foods from either vendors or cafes. It's making me feel so hungry.

I walk along the streets and find the bookstore I'm supposed to be interviewing at.

"New York Books"

Sounds pretty neat...

I saw a small café a few blocks down from the bookstore so I go in to grab a quick bite to eat. It was pretty quiet in there so I ordered a small coffee and some French toast. It looked delicious and tasted even better. I saw on a sigh in the café that you could order it to places. I am totally getting some for Skye and I when she gets home. God knows that she deserves it. I wonder how she's doing.

After I ate, I left the café and walked over to the bookstore. It looked pretty empty and no one was in there. I looked around the place looking at the spines of the dusty books.

"Hello, who's in here" I heard a voice call

"Um I'm here for the job interviews" I said "they were advertised for today"

All the lights turned on and a woman emerged from the shadows.

"Oh, that's great news! I'm Stephanie, come right this way and you can fill out your application form"

She handed me the form and disappeared into the back room.

As soon as she disappeared I could hear her having a conversation in the back.

"is that the only person you could get in your pathetic attempt to take over my business?" I hear a mans voice say.

"Dad, I just need to get some employees and this place will be up and running again. I told you that firing all of my employees was a bad move but you said that I had to start from the bottom"

"THEY DIDN'T WANT TO WORK FOR YOU, THEY WERE HAPPY TO LEAVE"

"that was because they worked for you. I'm going to have to ask you to leave dad. I told you that I was done with you and you lazy, selfish ways. I'm not like you. I'm like mom but you drove her away too and now look at her. SHES DEAD BECAUSE YOU PUSHED HER OFF THE WAGON SO MUCH THAT SHE DIDN'T SEE THE POINT IN LIVING. SHE KILLED HERSELF BECAUSE YOU TREATED HER SO BADLY. JUST GO AND DO WHATEVER YOU WANT. GO GET DRUNK LIKE YOU ALWAYS DID WHEN SHE WAS ALIVE. COME HOME AND MAKE ADDISON FEAR YOU LIKE YOU DID TO MOM AND ME. AND DONT WORRY ONCE IM FINISHED FILLING OUT THSE PAPERS ADDISON WILL LIVE WITH ME. NOW LEAVE.

I heard a door slam and then some nearly silent crying.

I saw her come in looking as bright and fresh as she could manage a few minutes. Her mascara was smudged and her eyes were bloodshot.

"Are you ok?" I asked

"Yeah... yeah, I'm totally fine" she said "I know this sound pretty weird and we haven't gone through the interview yet but... would you like the job? No one else viewed the post online so I doubt anyone else is coming"

"Oh my god at is amazing! But can I ask... who's Addison?"

"She's my sister... anyway you start tomorrow arrive here at 8:30 for a 9 am opening"

"Ok. See you tomorrow?"

"See you tomorrow!"

She showed me out and I started to walk back to the apartment. I feel so bad for her, I'm going to try and make an effort to bring publicity to the bookstore. She deserves it.

A\N:

Ok, I hope you liked that chapter. The café I was talking about is actually 'Y Café' if you wanted to know and just an update on the last chapter. I spent a long time trying to pick out a celebrity that looks like Cade Alcala it was hard because Cade is actually a description of a friend of mine (who is not a celebrity). So Ross Lynch was the most alike celebrity I could find. Sorry!

XOXO
