CHAPTER ELEVEN
PROGRESSIONIf it had been any other situation that she was put into, then her instant reaction would have been to walk away. But something about this seemed sweet and thoughtful in a way.
They were outside, somewhere in the middle of the garden that they had moved into with history assignments below their knees and a flashlight flickering away in the darkness. She was nuzzled up in the comforts of her hoodie, an infamous, treasured piece of hers which she kept on her all the time. It seemed to be his as well. Except his sweatshirts had actually seemed to fit his body. He suited the mop of brown curls that swept his eyes and the shy smile that made her giggle. Something about this evening seemed too perfect to be real. Because for one, she knew that Isaac was never allowed out past this late time.
She was correct again.
Because she had woke up to a plate shattering once again at four o clock in the morning.
If it had been any day before the night before then she would have rushed down stairs with the closest object that she could find, ready to launch at the attacker. But she was tired. God, she was so damn tired. She wanted to rest for once instead of waiting for the next moment that someone wanted to try and kill her in her sleep. It was even getting to the point where they were slowly finding ways to find her in her house. Somewhere where she thought she was safe.
But she assumes that Katherine's incantations weren't strong enough to even hold somebody as measly as McCall who was merely just a puppy getting the strength it needed to run. He wasn't somebody to worry about. But being close to him and barely even near him but her at risk of that alpha coming to make itself accustomed to her scent. She didn't want to have another werewolf using her scent to track her down.
Her toes immediately curl and turn rigid once she presses her whole body weight onto the cool floorboards, surprisingly not creaking due to this unearthly pressure. The smash doesn't happen again but she can hear the broken pieces being pushed to one side and being disposed into the trashcan. The murmurs sounded familiar. It's probably just her brother. If it had been somebody else, they wouldn't have been so reckless to have broken porcelain china? It seemed too easy. Way too easy for her at least.
The light sheds a sharp glare that makes her skin flare with an unbearable amount of pain that forced out a strangled scream. Whoever that had been there ... well they were there to watch the scene. The girl, who she knows is her sister was still stationary on the floor, eyes closed with force but laced with concentration. The other girl was younger but she recognised her despite her not speaking. Her expression was nonchalant and she seemed to be bored and tired. She had a good idea as to who it was.
The boy however had swooped her into her arms before she fell back into the first few stairs. At this point, her hair was covering her face from the scornful scars that were now forming on her face but her terrible choice in a t shirt and shorts that stopped briefly before her pelvis, her legs were burning up and leaving red. It was faint but the pain definitely wasn't.
This boy was Leo. She could tell because his voice was trying to soothe her from the pain. He held her like Katherine had done a few days ago and a few minutes passed before her eyes had shut from her empty abundance of energy.
The marks were starting to fade and Roman finally eases into the position, falling asleep in his arms. She feels safe again.
The next morning, her memory is hazy from the events of last night and she was actually able to withstand the voice of Holly Friar that morning in the cafeteria. Her invitation to the soccer team meant that she was required to sit on the table that Holly as well as Sanah, Autumn and the many others that were on the team, would sit on every lunch and free period that they were there. However Sanah hadn't been there and was probably off in the shadows more than likely whilst Autumn must have been with her brother who McCall and Stilinski couldn't keep his name out of their mouths.
