It was about 3 o'clock when I actually decided to have a shower and get myself ready, luckily it was summer so I still had plenty of daylight left. After throwing on a nice little floral summer dress and throwing my hair up into a messy ponytail, I grab my car keys and my phone and head over to my friends house, we were supposed to be rehearsing for a "Party in the Park" gig we had the next day, we didn't really need the rehearsal but I get paranoid about my performances, needing every note to be perfect, music was the one thing the mattered to me the most, I could just get lost in it for days. My father really inspired me to begin, he always encouraged me to shoot for my dreams, he passed away a couple of years ago, so music is like my way of talking and connecting to him, because I know he's listening to me.
I smile to myself as I pull up on Katie's drive and get out of my car, I pulled my guitar out of the back and let myself in. "It's only me!" I called up the stairs, just to make sure she knew she wasn't being broken into. I head up the stairs and set my guitar down on her bed, slumping down after it.
"You look a mess." Katie bursts out laughing and grabs my guitar. "Come on, we need to practice 'A Drop in The Ocean' once more, and I really like the notes you do in it." She chuckles, I shake my head with a slight laugh and begin singing, it was just me and the guitar thats what it felt like.
It was a little bit later on and we were sitting in Katie's garden with her family, being antisocial as usual, I was flicking between Twitter, Instagram and Facebook refreshing each page about 20 times waiting for something exciting to pop up other than advertisements of party in the park and all of the different entertainment that would be there, supposedly a fair few celebs showed up there every year just to chill out and enjoy the day. I hadn't lived here too long but I loved the peacefulness of it. It was a town called Wiltshire and it just reminded me of home. Something snapped me out of my trance, "Isobel would you like another drink?" Katie's little sister asked with a beam on her face, she was a lovely little girl, she loved to be liked, she was also our biggest fan as we'd been told many a time. "That would be wonderful thank you Millie." I smile at her, "Would you like me to come and help you and then maybe we can get the guitar and show your mommy and daddy that song you learnt?" I say knowing she would love it. Her face lit up as soon as I'd said it, she wraps her arms around my legs hugging them. "Yes please!" She runs into the kitchen and grabs a bottle of water out of the fridge and hands it to me before running over to my guitar and picking it up carrying it outside, I laugh as I follow her out and sit on one of the garden chairs and pull a plectrum out of my back pocket and started to strum Ed Sheerans new song 'Galway Girl' and Millie started singing, she had such a beautiful little voice I did a little bit of harmonising with her. "Mommy aren't I good I'm going to join Issy's band." Millie tells her mum, I chuckle and stand up putting my guitar back into it case. "Well I'd better head home, I've got to get to the park early for soundcheck, but thank you for the lovely dinner." I smile at Katie's parents before heading out to my car.
I plugged my phone into the AUX cable and put Spotify on shuffle, I had gone onto one of my old playlists laughing at some of the choices I had put in there, 'Amnesia' by 5 Seconds of Summer came on, I hadn't listened to them in a while, like any other band I had listened to I had gone through phases where I stopped listening to them but I felt like I should listen to them again, I just got this feeling in my stomach when I heard their music, it was just such a beautiful sound.
Unlocking the door to my flat my cat greeted me promptly moaning at me. "I know, I know I'm late and you're hungry." I laugh as I pull his bowl out of the cupboard and fill it with his food setting it down for him, "Honestly Lupin, you are so loud sometimes." I walk into my bedroom and get changed into my pyjamas and get into my bed pulling my iPad off my dresser and unlocking it scrolling through my twitter feed, replying to any tweets i had been sent about tomorrow, I closed the app and pulled up Netflix putting the new episode of Pretty Little Liars on, slowly feeling myself drift off to sleep, Lupin at the end of my bed.
