Michael’s POV

It took Meaghan a while to answer the note because the teacher had us do work. But she did write back.

I’d love to. But I really need to tell you something at lunch.

I wrote back confused.                   

Can’t you tell me on paper?

I heard her sigh but wrote.

No, face to face would be better.

I smiled and nodded my head, writing back.

We both decided not to write anymore as the teacher was looking at us. It was nice that I can now actually hold Meaghan’s hand now and give her kisses. I just want to know what she’s going to tell me.

Meaghan and I walked out of Math class and we went to her locker first.

“What were you going to tell me?” I asked her.

“It’s my fault my mum died. Well that’s what my dad said. He says it’s my fault and I need to be punished, so he hits me.” I couldn’t believe my ears! That dirty bastard hurt my baby girl!? Oh hell to the no! He’s going to get beat up so bad, he’d wish he’d rather be dead!

“No Meaghan. It’s not your fault alright. Nothing is your fault.” I told her.

“Yes it is. Dad says so and my dad is always right.”

“Well this time he is wrong! Very wrong!” Meaghan sighed and hugged me.

“I don’t want to go home.” She mumbled in my shirt.

“Then don’t. Come home with me. I will protect you.”

“Promise?” She asked me, letting me go from our hug.

“I promise.”

And I really mean it. I will do whatever it takes to make her happy and safe again.
