Chapter 2- Tears and Dates

Ana's POV

Just act subtle, I mentally told myself. "Hey...Ross", ugh, way to be subtle! "Sup Ana!", he chuckled. He then gave me a hug. I hugged back and couldn't help but feel butterflies. He flopped onto my bed and started to play flappy bird on my phone. I laughed.

"So whatcha up to?", he asked, still looking at my phone. "I was playing flappy bird and thinking about Cali's birthday. What I'm going to get her and whatnot", I explained while sitting next to him. Cali's birthday was in two weeks. I still didn't know what to get her!

Maybe I should just get her a gift card. "I don't know Cali as well as you do but I do know she loves drawing. Maybe you should get her a sketchpad or something", he answered. That actually wasn't a bad idea! I guess I could do that.

Going back to what Ross said about not knowing Cali that well, it was true, we aren't the group of best friends who always hung out together. Ross has known my sister and I for ten years while Cali has known us for eleven years.

Ross and my sister don't hangout that much, even though they've known each other for ten years. But with Carolina and Cali, it's a whole different story. They ALWAYS hangout. Were basically all like sisters.

"Ana, Ana, ANA!" "What? Oh, sorry. You were saying something?", I asked. "I wanted to know when her birthday is", he explains. "Oh, it's in two weeks." What will I get her?

The Next Day at School

I opened my locker and took out my books for first period. As I put all my books in my bag, Cali walked up to me. "Hey, Ana" "Hey California",I say.

I like to call Cali California because we live in California and Cali is short for California. Get it? No, okay. "Oh my gosh! Jason is coming over! Act natural!", Cali straightened her blonde hair with her hand so she didn't look bad in front of Jason.

"Sup Simmons", Jason said referring to Cali. "Sup, Williams", she says referring to Jason. He laughs. "So, Simmons, I was wondering if you wanted to go on a date Friday night?", he asks her. Her eyes grow huge. "Yes! I mean, ya sure", she answers cooly.

"Cool. See ya Friday.", he says while walking away. Cali starts squealing. "Oh. My. Gosh.", she then starts breathing heavily. I laugh. "So can I help you with your date outfit?", I ask turning to her. "Yes! Can I borrow Carol's gold flats?", she asks. "I don't know. Ask Carolina.", I laughed.

"Okay, have you seen her?", she questions. "I think she is with Ryland. Talking about some video game." "Kay, thanks", she runs off. Oh Cali.

Ross's POV

I was at my locker with my siblings and Ellington talking to Ell when Cali ran over. She ran to were Ryland and Carolina were talking. "Hey California", Carolina says turning to Cali. In the corner of my eye I see Rocky looking at something. Then I realized he was staring at SOMEONE. I followed his gaze and saw that he was staring at CALI.

Wait, am I missing something here? I walked over to Rocky and waved my hand in his face. "Rocky, hello?" "Oh! What? Sorry", he says. "What are you looking at?" "What? Pfft, nothing'', he says while the scratching the back of his neck. "Okay."

Rocky's POV

I watched as she talked to Carolina. She is so beautiful, I thought. I listened to their conversation. "Hey Carolina, guess what?!" "What?!" "Jason asked me out! Ahh!", she squeals. That's all I could get through before running off. I ran as fast as I could and ended up outside. I sat on a bench and started to cry in my lap.

I know I have nothing to do with Cali's love life, but I just really like her! I've liked her since the seventh grade, we're in tenth grade now! I was cut out of my thoughts when someone sat down next to me.

I looked over to my side and saw Rydel. "Oh, hey Rydel", I sniffled. "What happened in there?", "I don't really wanna talk about it", I looked away. "Please tell me! I promise I won't say anything!", she begged.

"Fine. I like Cali", I whispered the last part. Rydel started to squeal. "I knew it!", she yelled. "Shh! Don't tell anyone.", I looked at her. She pretended to zip her lips and throw away the key. I chuckled. I guess I just gotta deal with this.
