Everything in the house was finished. All our new furniture had been delivered and arranged and everything was painted. The place was perfect.

We had spent the last few days buying all new wardrobes while the movers set everything up. I may have splurged a bit on both of us; before most of our clothes came from cheap common stores (Walmart), but now many of them were designer. Niall was always telling me to stop fretting about spending his money, and for once I did. With as much as we had been through lately, I thought we deserved to treat ourselves.

We were on our way to the house when I saw a dog walking around on the sidewalk alone. The driver pulled over on my command, and I hopped out to pick up the dog. He was a little thing, and I couldn't tell which breed, so probably a mutt. There were no tags on him so I decided we should take him to the pound to see if he had a microchip. Niall was a bit annoyed at me delaying getting to the house because "somebody else could've picked him up and taken him to the pound babe."

The pound told me that he had no microchip and was homeless. They were going to keep him but if nobody took him within three days, which they probably wouldn't, they would put him down. I gave Niall my biggest sad face ever, and he let me keep the dog. He seemed a bit angry about it, but he'd get over it soon enough.

After that, we finally made our way to the house, which I hadn't actually seen since it was completely done. We walked in the doors, and I was astonished. It was absolutely gorgeous.

We were in the middle of making our first dinner in our new home when somebody knocked on the door. We hadn't invited anyone over, so it was a bit weird. I'm very cautious about randoms showing up now. I looked through the peep hole and saw Niall's mum outside. I immediately threw the door open, only to find that everyone was there. All the boys and their girlfriends, Niall's parents, my mum and brothers, and Greg and Denise with Theo.

I couldn't believe they all came here to support us. I was sure we had enough room for everyone here, but we certainly did not have enough food.

We went through a round of hugs to greet each person. I hadn't realized how much I missed all of them until I saw everyone. It was like a family reunion.

"What are you guys doing here?" I asked no one in particular.

"Well, after everything that's happened lately, we wanted to come and show you how much we care about you" my mom said. This was the first time I had spoken to her in person in such a long time. I wrapped her in a tight hug and didn't let go for a long time.

Suddenly, our new puppy came charging out of our bedroom, excited to greet everyone. She barked at everyone's feet until finally Liam picked her up and gave her the attention she longed for.

We ordered tons of pizza and sat in our spacious living room gobbling down food and chatting up a storm. Afterwords, we played charades and other lame games adults play at their "parties," aka attempts at having a social life that don't go very well.

It felt amazing to have all my family, blood related and not, in one place at the same time for the first time ever. Everyone got along great and had such a wonderful time together. Even my mom and Maura were getting along fantastically.

For the first time in forever, I was truly happy. I had so much to be hopeful about and I was at peace with everything that had happened. I had a new home, a new puppy, my family and friends, and a man I loved and was worth fighting for. In that moment nothing bad could happen, and nothing could stop me.

Someone once said "sometimes you forgive people not because they're sorry, but because you are." So that's what I did. I let the past go even though I didn't get an apology from the people that caused this mess, and I probably never would. I forgave them because I need to move forward, and I need to have a life. Everything was going to be okay.
