I wake up the next morning to the sounds of my mother and boyfriend having a quiet conversation. Titan is sitting under Tyler’s feet, happily wagging his tail and panting. “So you think she’s the one for you?” My mom asks quietly.
“Yeah, I really do. There’s this feeling I get, that’s nothing like anything I’ve felt before. She’s it for me.” He responds.
“Well then yes, I approve.” I smile at Tyler’s response and wrap my arms tighter around my pillow. Emitting a yawn, Tyler walks over to me and wakes me up silently.
“Morning.” He whispers.
“M-morning.” Tyler laughs and kisses my forehead, “What time is it?”
“Eight-thirty. I’ve gotta head out and you, need to get ready for whatever you are planning on doing today.”
“Let me know what time your heading home.” I tell him before closing the door to our bedroom.
After showering, fixing my hair and putting on make-up, I was almost ready to go to school. I know I’m not teaching today, but I want to go and meet faculty and set up my classroom at the end of the school day. Victoria had invited me to join the faculty party they hold at the end of every month this afternoon as well, so I had a full day. I pulled on a white, flowing blouse, navy jacket and dark blue skinny jeans. My mom stood in the doorway as I headed out of the room, a large smile on her face. “What?” I ask her while I grab my phone, purse and keys.
“I’m just so proud of how you turned your life around. You’ve made amazing choices, Tyler is the man I always dreamed my little girl would fall in love with and marry.”
“Well, we’re not getting married yet. I don’t want to rush into something like that, but, you’re right about one thing, I do want to get married to him eventually.”
“Promise me that you won’t wait too long though, sometimes waiting isn’t always the best.”
“I promise, and besides, he’s the one that has to get down on one knee, not me. Are you heading out as well?” She nods and grabs her purse. I walk to the door and open it, “It’s been great to see you and everything, let’s keep in touch this time?”
“Of course sweetheart.” She envelops me in a hug and walks out to her car.
“Oh, what beautiful mother-daughter love.” Austin snickers.
I glare at him and lock the apartment door. “Fuck off Austin.” I growl before leaving to the parking lot.
“You know, such beautiful women shouldn’t use such ugly language.” He says, walking next to me. “It’s not a habit to get into.”
“It’s non of your goddamn business what I say.” I snap.
Austin laughs and unlocks his car, which is parked next to mine. God, can he not just fuck off? “You really need to watch the language.”
“Oh please. I’ve done much worse.” I open my car door and climb in.
“What have you done?” He asks curiously. I roll my eyes and pull out of the lot, leaving him staring there in awe.

“So, in this file is the bell schedule, emails, office number lists, your class lists, all of your class material and what they’ve been working on so far is on the desk in the room which you can set up after school. We have drug dogs here two Fridays a month, just to let you know. We have a good bit of problem kids, it is public school.” Victoria says happily as she walks me around the office.
