1488, Bulgaria

Life was hard in Bulgaria during the years when Katerina Petrova and Aleksandra Dragova were growing up, and it got even more challenging when the girls became fourteen.

Aleksandra had just turned fourteen when she met a young man who hailed from Poland. A man that she fell in love with very much. He was a few years older than she was, but Aleksandra was okay with it. But at the same time, she wasn't since she wasn't a girl who would disobey rules that her father has told her.

'Never get with a guy from Poland, never' Her father's Bulgarian voice was always filled with venom. Aleksandra knew that she couldn't be with the man she loves.

She cried many times when she was with her cousin, Katerina, and complained about her father.

Katerina and Aleksandra were the best of friends growing up. Their mothers were sisters, and they only lived a few miles away from one another.

Aleksandra has long, curly chestnut hair, emerald green eyes, a beautiful facial structure with higher cheekbones than her mother, slim figure, small yet thin nose, thin and sharp eyebrows, and plenty more.

She also looks older for her age.

When the day of her birth arrives the following year, meaning she's now fifteen years old, she reunites with her Polish friend.

That night turn even more magical.

"Why are you telling me about your cousin?"

Elena was at the tomb the following day trying to get answers out of Katherine about the whole Klaus situation.

Elena wasn't expecting to learn from Rose that the oldest vampire in the history of vampires, Klaus, is after her and for some reason, Elijah wanted to give Alithea over to him.

Now she's with Katherine, who is talking about her cousin, Aleksandra, before talking about herself.

Katherine sighs as she shot Elena a weak glare "Because it's important, now back to the story."

It was indeed a magical night.

Because two full moons later, the young girl was throwing up.

Her father feared that she has been sick with the illness that been spreading all around the many countries but her mother knew.

She knew it wasn't the illness because she saw same symptoms in herself and her mother when she was to bare a child.

Her father was furious; her siblings were upset, her mother was disappointed when it was confirmed that she was indeed carrying a child.

The more Elena hears, the more curious she became "So she was pregnant?"

Katherine hummed as she flips through the book of her family, the Petrova's, before speaking, "She was fourteen and pregnant by a man who was in his early twenties. My uncle was furious beyond hell, so was my father, and he banished her. Banished her from the family, from home, and from Bulgaria."

Elena lets out a tiny gasp as she looks away from Katherine and onto the stone wall as she tucks a strand of behind her ear, "Then what happened?"

"Mother, please don't let him do this," Aleksandra begs her mother, her Bulgarian voice breaking in half as she sobs into her mother's arms late at night.

Her mother shushed the girl, comforting her as she gently strokes the back of Aleksandra's head, "My daughter, my daughter, it's nothing I can do," the young girl continues to sob and cry until her brother and father enter the master bedroom.
