Alithea Gilbert was named after one of Miranda's best friend in college who died in a car accident. Such coincidence that Miranda and Grayson passed away in a car accident, but luckily, Elena and Alithea managed to escape and reach shore.

But something changed within Alithea when she was below the river.

She felt like she died. Maybe she did. But that wasn't what changed her, she swore she pictured something inside her head, several things that flashed like a flip book that moved too quickly to be remembered. She can vaguely remember what they were about, but she did remember seeing a little girl receiving a teddy bear.

As Alithea laid in the hospital bed, her mind replaying the accident over and over again as her twin sister slept in the bed a few feet away from her.

Their heart monitor beeping at an average pace as Alithea's eyes slowly came to a close, her blanket felt so comfy against her skin as she slips into a peaceful dream.

1820- March 4th, 1820

"Today, is the day of Annabella's birth, a day for my lovely daughter, all raise your glasses and toast to my wonderful little girl who just like yesterday was crying in my arm." The Governor addressed his guest as he held his glass of wine up in the air.

The guests applauded and yelled 'Happy day of birth.'

Annabella felt herself blush a deep scarlet red as she looks up at her husband to be.

She was now eleven years old, and soon enough within a few years, she'll be married to her first cousin, Henry Crawford, her mother's brother's fourteen-year-old son.

Annabella felt sick that she has to be in this "arranged" marriage with her own cousin, but she knew that she has no choice.

"Sweetheart, talk to the crowd." Her mother nudged her shoulder, and Annabella swallowed down her nerves and spoke to the crowd below from the upper-level bannister.

"I um, I wanted to thank you all for coming to my day of birth party, it means very much to my family and me. But-" Annabella took a deep long breath before grasping her husband to be hand's in hers and spoke once more "It's not just my day of birth party worth celebrating, but also an engagement party. I am to be wed to Mr Henry Crawford in a when I turn sixteen." There was silence around the guests until one person clapped turned into people either clapping or toasting their own glass into the air.

Annabella looks up and saw the happiness in Henry's aqua blue eyes but all Annabella could hear and feel was her heart aching and breaking.

Later on, after the party, the now eleven-year-old was sitting on her bed with all her gifts around her. 'Knock, Knock' Annabella's head snapped up at the soft double knock.

"Come in." Annabella's voice came out very soft and sweet as she places a newly gifted hand mirror onto her bed.

The door crept open, and Annabella felt herself smiling as she sees Dae sneaking inside and closing the door behind her.

"Dae" Annabella whispers as she saw that the cook was holding something wrapped up in what looked like newspaper behind her.

"Ms Walton, today is your day of birth, and I wanted to gift you something. I've been with you for eleven years, and I love you like my daughter, no matter the skin difference dear. There have only been a few people who treated me as a human instead of just a slave. You gave me a name and treated me as me, so thank you, Annabella. So happy day of birth." With tears in her eyes, Dae took the gift from behind her back and handed the big present that was wrapped in newspaper and tied together with many strings of thinned cream rope.

"Dae" Annabella's voice cracked as she felt and tasted salty tears leak from her eyes and slid down her face as she took Dae's present and placed the gift on her crisscrossed lap.

"Dae, you didn't need to-" Annabella started, but Dae shook her head and wiped away one of her own tear that fell. "Open it" and one by one, Annabella untied all the knots and unwrapped the newspapers and lets out a startled gasp as she moved her hand to grip the homemade bear with her hands.

The bear had different patches of clothing or pieces of blanket. It was stitched from scratched and brought fresh tears to her eyes once again.

She placed it next to her, right on top of her mirror, and jumped off the bed and wrapped her arms around Dae's slim body and sniffled,

"Thank you Dae, thank you so much."

Annabella pulls back, and Dae saw the tears in Annabella's eyes, the red blotches under both eyes, her red nose and tear tracks.

"Don't cry my dear," Dae gently wipe away the tears that rolled down "I've been making this bear for you for five years, but I don't regret it. I love you so much dear, and I want you always to remember that."

Annabella could only nod her head before hugging her friend once again.

"Are you going to see that boy again?"

Another nod.

"I will go out soon, he's born a few days after today, and he'll be ten soon. That what you told me. That you helped deliver food to his mother for him and that he will have his day of birth soon. I love him; he's my brother, a slave or not."

March 4th, 2010,

Dear Diary,

Hey, it's me, Alithea It has been a while since I wrote I wrote in this book. Not since my parents' death to be honest. A lot of things happened since then and the biggest being the fact that Supernatural creatures or at least vampires and witches are real. Heck, I got bit by one of them. My normal life is over. The girl who sat in the front of the class and stayed quiet and paid attention. The girl who never missed class is now skipping class because of supernatural reasons. I still can't wrap my head around that and guess what. My parents aren't my parents. My father is my uncle, who I loved so much (yet he tried to kill Damon and Stefan Salvatore plus he killed Jer's girlfriend), and this woman named Isobel.

Who is my aunt's (mother's side) boyfriend's vampire wife, who got turned by my now ex-friend Damon Salvatore, who is a freaking vampire and killed my brother because of my older twin sister. Gosh, my life is a mess at the moment. My good friend is a witch, Bonnie Bennett and my best friend, Miss. Popular Caroline Forbes is a vampire. My sister's ex is a human, but his sister was a vampire until she died. Elena is a doppelgänger, and I'm just me. Nothing special about me.

Well, now Katherine is apparently back in town, but I haven't seen her yet. But I saw a picture, and she looks exactly like Elena. Strange. Well, goodbye for now.

Sincerely, Alithea Gilbert

Alithea gently runs her fingers over the date. 'Why is this date mean so much to me?' She wondered as she thought back to how she felt on these days.

Every year on this day, she felt somewhat sad, mixed with happiness. She'll feel so much guilt at a particular time before feeling like she could burst into tears.

She looks at her alarm clock and saw it was only 9:43 in the evening. With a small sigh, she gently gets off of her bed and walk over to her dark dresser and grabbed the familiar bear that sat there.

"Do you think it's strange patches?" Of course, the old and weary bear didn't respond, but it's okay. Alithea was only three years old when she received this bear from her father and mother for a birthday present and ever since she would hold onto this bear when she's scared or sad.

Something about this bear, always felt right in her arms when she slept.

Alithea walks back towards her bed, got under the cover, turned off the light in her room, and held the bear close to her before shutting her eyes and falling asleep.
