It started with a weird feeling

Riker was bored. He had woken up this morning with a weird feeling, like something special was going to happen today, but he didn’t know what.  And there was no one in the house to talk to about it. His mom Stormie and sister Rydel were our shopping, Ross was at an Austin & Ally meeting, Ryland and their dad Mark were at football practice, and Rocky and Ratliff were probably somewhere doing something he didn’t want to know about. He just hoped they didn’t get in too much trouble.

After about an hour of flipping channels on TV and finding nothing good to watch, Riker decided to go grab some lunch, then maybe call Rocky and see if he and Ratliff wanted to meet him at the batting cages.  He grabbed his wallet, keys, and sunglasses and headed out.  But just as he got ready to open the door, someone knocked.  He opened the door, and there stood the most beautiful girl he had ever seen.  She was almost his height, with bright blue eyes and light brown hair about halfway down her back.

“Can I help you?” Riker said.  “I’m sorry for bothering you,” she replied, “but my family and I just moved in next door, and I needed to run to the store to get some things for my mom, but I still don’t know where anything is.  So I thought I would ask a neighbor where the closest store was.  And you are the first person that has been home.”

“I was just getting ready to run some errands” Riker replied, a plan quickly forming in his head. “You are welcome to come with me.  We can get the stuff your mom needs, then after I can show you around.”  “Thanks.” the girl replied. I would like that. “By the way, my name is Rayne.”  “Nice to meet you Rayne” said Riker. “My name is Riker.”

“Well Riker,” Rayne said, “just let me run and tell my mom that I found a way to the store and I will be right back.  I would ask you to come with me, but our house is a complete mess, and my mother would have a fit if I brought anyone in with it in that condition.”

“I completely understand.” Riker said.  “My mom is kind of the same way.  I’ll wait right here for you.”  He smiled as Rayne turned and ran to her house.   “This is turning out to be an interesting day” Riker thought. “I just hope it doesn’t end with a quick trip to the store.”

A few minutes later, Rayne came running out of her house and over to Riker.  “I’m ready” she said.  “And my mom said that I don’t have to worry about going to the store for her.  She is planning to go herself later.  So I have the rest of the day for you to show me around, if the offer is still good.”  “Of course it is” Riker replied.  “And now that we have more time, I can show you a lot about this town.  So if you have everything you need, let’s get out of here.”
