Rayne's POV

The next two week after the jam session at my house totally wore me out.  Every day was packed from the time I got up until the time I went to bed, and Riker's days were the same way.  The only time we saw each other was when we Skyped each other late at night, and even those calls only lasted a few minutes each time because we were both so tired.

Finally, after about two jam-packed weeks, Riker and I both got a break, so we planned to take a small trip together.  We wanted to go and spend a few days at his family's cabin, the one he took me to on our date.  Stormie wanted the house closed up for the winter since no one would be going there for the next several months.  So, that last Friday, as soon as Riker was back from his last commitment, he and I took off for the cabin.  Rydel and Ratliff went with us so Rydel and I could work on the stuff inside the cabin, and Riker and Ratliff could take care of the heavy stuff outside.

On the way to the cabin, we stopped at the store to get all the food we would need for the weekend, as well as some cleaning items.  Rydel and I had decided that we wanted to cook a special meal for Riker and Ratliff that weekend, so we got the stuff for that meal, but we paid separately so the guys wouldn't see what we had in store for them.  When we were done at the store, we were finally ready for the cabin.

When we got to the cabin, we unpacked everything and put the groceries away.  Rydel and I put our stuff in the fridge on the porch since we still didn't want the guys to see what we got.  Then, we went and put our stuff in the living room.  We had decided that we were going to go ahead and cover the furniture in the bedrooms, and we would all just sleep in the living room.  We had air mattresses, so we would be fine.

Once we had all the furniture covered, it was getting kinda late, so we decided to go to bed and start again in the morning.  We all took turns in the bathrooms, then we settled down to go to sleep.  Everyone else fell asleep kinda quickly, but I just laid there, staring out the window at the night sky.  I had had a weird feeling in the back of my mind all day, like something was going to happen, and I couldn't get it out of my head.  Finally, after about an hour of staring out the window, I got up and went to out on the back deck.  I sat down in one of the lounge chairs snd stared out at the ocean.  It was very peaceful out here, but it still couldn't shake the bad feeling I was having.  After a while, I heard the sliding door open.  I looked up and saw Riker standing at the door.  He walked over to me, so I sat up and he sat down behind me on the chair.  I leaned back against him, and he put his arms around me.  We both just sat there in the peace and quiet.  Finally, Riker leaned down and kissed my temple.  "Wanna tell me what's been bothering you?" he said.  "I could tell all day that something was wrong, but I didn't want to bring it up around Ratliff and Rydel.  Then, I woke up tonight and you weren't beside me.  So I came out looking for you."

"I don't actually know what's bothering me" I said as I pulled Riker's arms tighter around me.  "I have had a bad feeling, like something is gonna happen, for a few days now.  But today, it's been a lot worse.  No matter what, I can't shake the feeling."  "Have you talked to your mother today? Riker asked me.  "Yeah, I called her this afternoon when we were at the grocery store.  She said that everything was fine."  "Well, then everything is fine." Riker said.  "Maybe it's just because you have been so busy lately.  Once your schedule calms down, you will feel better."  "Maybe you're right" I told him as I turned around and gave him a kiss.  "I have been under a lot of stress lately.  Hopefully things will get better now."  We sat outside for a little while later, just enjoying the quiet and each other's company.  But eventually, we went inside to get some sleep.  I laid down and cuddled up next to Riker, who put his arm around me.  He kissed me on the forehead, told me he loved me, and then he fell asleep.  I told him I loved him too, then I laid my head on his chest and closed my eyes.  It took me a few minutes, but eventually I fell asleep too.

The next morning, I woke up with the same bad feeeling, but this time it was worse.  Everyone else was still asleep, so I got up and went ahead and took my shower.  After my shower, I brushed my hair and while it was still wet, I put it up in a French braid so it wouldn't be in my face all day.  Then I got dressed in a simple pair of black denim shorts, a white tank top, and a black and white checked shirt.  Then I went to the kitchen to get started on breakfast.

I had made up a breakfast casserole the night before, so all I had to do this morning was put it in the oven,  After that, I mixed up a fruit salad, made toast, and put water on for tea.  As I was pulling the dishes out of the cabinet to set the table, Riker came in the kitchen.  He put his arms around me and kissed me on the top of my head.  "Good morning beautiful.  How did you sleep last night?"  I turned, put my arms around him, and leaned up to kiss him.  "I slept fine.  I still feel a little worried, but I'm not gonna let it bother me as much."  "That's good." Riker said as I pulled away to finish setting the table.  "Now, is there anything I can do to help you get ready for breakfast?"  I put the plates on the table and said "I just have to take the casserole out.  But you can get the juice and fruit salad from the fridge."  Rydel and Ratliff came in about the time we had everything ready, so we sat down and ate breakfast.

Once we were done, we tried to decide what to do that day.  We didn't have a lot to do at the cabin since we had another full day to do all the clean up, so we wanted to take that day and relax.  So we decided to go the the small town that was about 20 minutes away and look through some of the small shops.  That night, Rydel and I planned to cook dinner for the guys.  After we made our plans, Rydel and I cleaned up the kitchen while Riker and Ratliiff went into the living room.  While Rydel washed the dishes, I put the steaks in the marinade and mixed the salad. When we were done, we put on our shoes and headed to town.

We spent the entire day walking around the small town.  I found a few things for my brothers, mom and Evan, but I wanted to find something for Riker.  I wanted him to have something to remember this trip, plus he had given me that puzzle for my room.  Finally, as we were walking back towards the car, I glanced in a store window and immediately saw what I wanted.  "Hey, you guys go on ahead to the car." I said as I stopped in front of the store.  "I want to run in here for just a quick second.  I'll be there in just a minute."  "I'll come with you" Rydel said as she walked back to me.  Riker came back and gave me a quick kiss, then he and Ratliff went on to the car.  When I walked in the store, I went directly to the item I had seen through the window.  It was a t-shirt that had a skull & crossbones on it, and it was holding a liquor bottle.  The shirt read "Time Flies When You're Having Rum".  They also had it on a small flag, so I got both.  I also saw a medium sized box that looked like a treasure chest.  It was painted black with a skull and crossbone on the lid.  The lining on the inside was made to look like old maps.  I thought this would be perfect for Riker to keep his souvenirs in from his world travels.  I made my purchases then Rydel and I walked out of the store and headed to the car.  I heard Riker yelling my name, so I looked up to see him running towards me with Ratliff right behind him.  "I wasn't gone that long silly.  I was on my way to the car.  Could you not stand to be without me for that short amount of time?" I asked as I laughed at him.  "Rayne, where is your cell phone?" he asked when he got to me.  "I forgot to charge it last night, so I left it on the charger at the cabin,  Why?"  I asked.  "Your mom has been trying to call you all morning." he told me as he caught his breath.  "When she couldn't reach you on your phone, she called my mom and got my number."  "Riker, what is going on?" I said, starting to get more upset.  "We need to get back home immediately." he said as he put his arm around me and pulled me towards the car.  "Why?" I asked.  "Riker, explain what's going on right now."  We stopped and he looked at me with a concerned look on his face.  Honey, there was an accident earlier at home.  It's Jackson, and it's not looking good."

***** Sorry this is so short.  I had this chapter written, but before I could publish it, it was deleded.  But that's ok because I wasn't exactly satisfied with it.  Hopefully I can update again soon.
