tyler came home that night love drunk, a wide smile on his face and a fluttery heart dancing in his chest. he was convinced josh was the love of his life.
he waved joshua goodbye, blowing him a sweet kiss before shutting the door and locking it behind him. he let his head fall against it, a sigh of content leaving his lips.
"tyler." a stern voice rang from behind him, accompanied by a torch shining on the back of his head. "it's ten at night, where've y'been, hm?"
"ma', i was at the fair with a friend." tyler flushed red, his words coming out shakier than he'd like. "jus' relax."
"jus' relax, huh?" she furrowed her brows and placed her hands on her hips as she growled, "a friend or a boyfriend, tyler joseph?"
"h-he's jus' a friend, mama. i promise." he swallowed thickly, his voice growing quieter whilst his mother's did the opposite.
"bullshit." she laughed venomously, slowly stepping closer to her son. "anyway, you're eighteen and y'need t'get a job and move out. especially if that boyfriend o'yours plans on... taking your innocence."
"ma', please-"
"i can tell ya' now, i'll gut him like a fish if he ever does as little as touch ya', let alone touch ya' in my house." she snarled, her hands clenching into fists. "i saw ya' kissin' him, tyler. don't fuckin' lie to me."
"i-i'm sorry, mama." tylers voice cracked embarrassingly, his cheeks darkening. "he's not my b-boyfriend, i swear to god."
"i'm disappointed." she sighed, dropping her head. "i just don't know what i did wrong t'deserve this."
tyler didn't speak, too in shock to say anything.
"go find a job t'morrow. by the months end, i want'cha out of m'house, kay?"
"o-okay." he frowned, not willing his tears to fall as his mother turned around and retreated into her own room, slamming the door behind her.
he sighed heavily, tears stinging his eyes as he blinked them away, dragging himself into his ensuite.
what was he going to with about josh?
what could he say? what could he do?

the morning rolled around and tyler was not having it. his mother woke him up by opening his curtains, inviting in blinding light. oh, and don't forget how her loud voice perfectly set the tone; today was gonna be shit.
"up, tyler. now." she snapped, ripping his blanket from him. "you're gonna spend the entire day job huntin', 'kay? don't come back until you've gone to at least ten places."
"mama, m'sorry." tyler mumbled, prying himself from the warmth of his bed immediately, not wanting to upset his mother any further. "is there anythin' else i can do?"
