SistaGirlz Book #5

DARIUS

"Seeing as how y'all are polyamorous and whatnot, I'm sure she'll give you the details but I'm glad you and Angie are into open relationships!" Aaron said boastfully.

"What's that supposed to mean?" I inquired as I sat beside TaMeeka while she braided my boy's hair on my front porch steps.

"Like I said, she'll give you the details," Aaron chuckled before passing a Kush blunt in my direction. "And thanks for hooking me up with ya girl Meeka. Ya other girl was too distracted to braid me up today."

Although Aaron didn't say my "other" girl's name, the scowl on TaMeeka's face told me she wasn't happy about my boy's gossip. Just the fact that he said Angie's name made her scoot away from me. If Aaron would shut up long enough, I would stop falling deeper into the hole he was digging on my behalf!

"You can thank me when you pay me," TaMeeka declared as she finished the last of Aaron's cornrow braids.

Before Aaron verbally protested to my girlfriend's outstretched hand, I replied, "I got you covered, man. Don't worry about it."

"You're not the one that braided him. All I know is that one of y'all is gonna pay me CASH MONEY TODAY before I rip every single braid out of his head!" TaMeeka snapped angrily as she stood up, prompting Aaron and me to do the same.

In an attempt to diffuse the escalating tension, I offered the blunt to TaMeeka. Smiling up at me before taking a puff, my girlfriend calmed down.

"Thanks for the last minute hookup," Aaron said as he pulled a wad of $100s out of his pocket, handing TaMeeka $200. "And if you're down with it, I'll come with a half and $100 from now on. I usually get my hair braided on Saturday mornings but just let me know when you're available."

Looking at the money in her hand before looking at Aaron, TaMeeka smiled as she passed his blunt back to him. "Take my number."

Taken aback at TaMeeka's brashness, I decided to wait until we were alone before I confronted her about her eagerness to obtain my boy's digits.

"Baby Girl is gonna be at a sleepover tonight," Aaron announced as he prepared to leave, scoping out TaMeeka. "What are you and ya girl gonna be up to?"

"A quiet night cuddled up in front of the VCR," TaMeeka said as she squeezed me to her side to my pleasant surprise.

"Ah'ight man," Aaron said disappointedly, putting the blunt out with his fingertips. "I guess I'll see you tomorrow. Nice meeting you, Meeka."

"Nice to meet you, too, Ron," TaMeeka said as she shook my best friend's hand before he departed in his Chevy Impala.

Awaiting her interrogation, I passionately kissed my girlfriend while curiosity ate me alive as my mind was on Aaron and Angie.

"So who's your 'other' girl?" TaMeeka asked immediately.

"My old hair braider," I replied without giving a name.

"You mean your ex-girlfriend Angie?" TaMeeka tensed up in my arms.

Hesitantly, I replied, "Yeah."

Relaxing before pulling away from me, TaMeeka giggled. "Probably distracted by her new boo, Devin. If ya boy Ron needs his hair hooked up, I'll let you know so you can come and hang with him while I braid him up."

My Baby always knew how to ease my mind. I felt respected when TaMeeka let me know that she would inform me of another man's presence prior to his arrival.

"It's OK to talk about Angie. Just don't fuck her!" TaMeeka warned.

"I hear ya, Baby," I said as I nuzzled TaMeeka's ear.

"What did he mean when he said you're into open relationships?" she inquired as she pulled away from me.

"He was talking about polyamory. Remember me telling you about it when I was first trynna get with you?" I reminded her. "Angie and I dated each other and anyone else as long as we told each other."

"Yeah... THAT part..." TaMeeka grimaced before leading me into her house. "How can you date more than one girl? Why would you WANT to?"

"I was trying to but you said no and I want you both so why not have you both?" I replied honestly, following my girlfriend to her sofa.

"Because it ain't right! Isn't that bigotry or something?!" she exclaimed as we sat down.

Laughing, I said, "Only if I married you both. There's nothing wrong with dating more than one person."

"Once you commit yourself to one person, you remain faithful to that ONE PERSON! Otherwise, it's cheating!" TaMeeka argued.

"It's only cheating if you lie about the other people you're dating," I corrected. "Polyamory involves honesty and transparency."

"ALL relationships should have honesty and transparency!!" TaMeeka snapped. "Look, Darius. I'VE been honest from the jump. I want a man that wants only me. If you need a harem, there's the door because I'm not the one for you!"

Tears streamed down TaMeeka's cheeks as she spoke. I heard her loud and clear. Taking my girlfriend into my arms, I held her close to my chest.

"I only want you," I lied.

Kissing me softly on the lips, TaMeeka said, "Good."

As she rose to find a movie for us to watch, I thought back to TaMeeka's eagerness to get my boy's phone number.

"So what's up with you and Aaron exchanging numbers?" I asked, staring at my girlfriend's ass while she bent over to look over my mama's videotape collection.

"Strictly business, Baby. If it don't make dollars or I don't love you, it don't make sense to do it," she explained before turning around with "Strictly Business" in her hands. "Ron means money to me plus he's your boy so he's off limits otherwise. I don't roll like that, fucking my man's friends."

I already had to figure how to keep Angie without losing TaMeeka, and I knew TaMeeka was referring to Angie and Devin but I didn't want to argue. I just wanted to enjoy my quiet night cuddled up with my girlfriend.
