As this segment of life soon draws to a close,
We soon must come to face the choices we chose.
We refused to walk to the beat of our own drum,
Because we were right under someone else’s thumb.
We refused to deviate anywhere near the strange and the weird
Out of fear,
Of the jeers and the leers
From our peers.
I don’t know about you but I have regrets.
Of times I let
Them under my skin
Let them hurt me from within.
But that’s middle school, right?
You’ll die if you don’t fight.
If you let them burn out your light.
It’s a dog eat dog world out there!
If you can’t handle it in here, you won’t go anywhere!
Right?
Or maybe, we’re all still scared little kids.
Terrified of not fitting in.
Petrified of rejection.
Daunted by the thought of not having affection.
Trembling at the thought of not fitting the mold.
In a panic over being left out in the cold.
And here we are, near the end of the middle.
As our childhood starts to dwindle.
One thing we should all retain from these three years of hell,
Is the reason we should treat our fellow man well.
A/N: This poem is more of a spoken word poem. I might, someday, take a video of me performing it to put on the sidebar. I don't know, but either way, it's better when said out loud, dramaticaly
