"Listen," Twilight says as we step towards the so-called DNR headquarters. "There's a lot that needs to be explained here, and you're probably pretty confused."
I roll my eyes. "Thanks for pointing that out." She purses her lips and ignores my comment.
"Equestria is in danger," she suddenly says, opening the door of the warehouse. "Maybe you don't care anymore, but it's pretty serious."
I step through the doorway into a long, bare hallway. A bare bulb hangs from the ceiling, casting stark shadows across the walls, and my shoes tap loudly on the concrete floor. "Isn't Equestria always in danger?" I ask dryly, allowing Twilight to lead the way down the hall.
"Yes," she agrees, "but usually we're around to fix things!"
I decide not to ask who "we" is quite yet. Instead, I start with the slightly more pressing question; "Who are you?"
She blows out a long sigh, turning to face me. "Princess Twilight Sparkle," she says, sticking a hand out for me to shake. I stare at it blankly until she lets it drop again.
"There are only three princesses," I say, folding my arms. "Celestia, Luna, and Cadence. I'm not completely oblivious to my past life, you know." I just try to be.
Twilight frowns, leading me into an office-like room just beyond the reach of the single light bulb's wan light. "Not anymore. After you left, I became Celestia's next pupil, and eventually rose to the rank of princess."
She sits down behind a large, wooden desk, folding her hands together contemplatively. I take in the room- four whitewashed walls and the desk- before sitting down across the wide expanse of desk.
"The Elements of Harmony are gone," Twilight Sparkle says to me.
"I have no idea what that means," I reply.
"It means that somepony made five of my friends vanish into the space-time continuum. It also means that the prophecy of Sunrise Shimmey is coming true."
"I don't know what that means, either."
Twilight blows out a frustrated breath. "Of course you don't," she mutters. "Sunrise Shimmey," she continues at a normal volume, "is your sister."
