This was, in part, inspired by BTS's "I NEED U" so it just goes to show how much I love K Pop. xD

This is dedicated to crowferilatte for supporting my work recently AND for being a fellow K Pop fan ;) figured this chapter would be best dedicated to you, haha.

And thank youuuuuuuuu, Cupcake, for helping me with this chapter's cover!!! LegendOfZellie , you'll be getting a chapter dedication fairly soon too. :)))

Please do the whole support thing. I'm tired.

Gritting her teeth and trying to ease the ache of her twisting heart, Zelda feels as though her stomach is somersaulting, and she has to force herself not to cry. She holds her head up high, just like she'd always seen her mother do her whole life after her parents' sudden divorce. It'd been an event that had rocked Zelda's world, and not in a good way.

Her childhood had been rough, and she'd felt as though she was being torn in two, always trying to be there for both her mother and her father. She spent her weekends with her father and new stepmother, and her mother had her for the weekdays. Most days, she'd go through life with a terrible pain in her chest.

Now, it didn't feel as different.

She feels as though she was having difficulty in breathing and presses two fingers to her temple, feeling a throbbing headache on its way. There's no way she'd be able to be in a relationship. There is no way.

No matter how her heart aches for him, she has to stay away from him. She can hear him call after her, but she doesn't look back. She absolutely can't look back. She has to run.

Making her feet move quickly is no easy feat, yet she takes off, placing one foot in front of the other. Feeling as though she's on the verge of collapsing, she tries to steady herself by gripping the stone wall beside her tightly. This is a public park, but there aren't many people there to stare at her since it's approaching dusk by now.

She feels arms wrap around her tightly from behind, and the pain finally slips through all her carefully constructed barriers. She hears someone crying and assumes it's her - But it's not. It's Link.

Sobs wrack his body as he clings to her, allowing her to feel just how much he's hurting as well. It's not just her. It's both of them.

So, she stands there and waits - waits for the goodbye that she knows is bound to happen and end everything.

Instead, what she gets surprises her.

"Zelda," he begins, "I remember everything. I remember when I first met you in that small town while I was waiting tables and you were visiting your grandparents for the summer. I remember when I first told you how I felt about you. I remember when you first told me about your parents. But listen to me, Zelda - It's not ending here. It's only beginning." Softly, he swipes away her tears with his thumb, "So, please - Don't think that we're going to end up like your parents. We're not going to, Zelda. You don't have to be afraid."

Still, she feels like that would be something her father would have told her mother. She'd seen them try to make things work for so long, but nothing ever did. Shivering from the cold, she unconsciously snuggles closer to him. "I am afraid, Link..."

"Why, Zelda?" he asks, knowing exactly why she's afraid but wanting her to be able to say it.

"You know why! You already said it," she says, more tears spilling from her eyes.

The sun's begun going down, and the park is nearly deserted with the exception of the two of them. Link guides Zelda toward the entrance of the park with his arms around her all the while.

Pressing a kiss to her forehead, he says comfortingly, "I know, Zelda. And it'll be okay."

"I don't want to need you, Link!" she exclaims suddenly. "I don't want to feel like I'm dependent on you - That scares me! I hate feeling as though I can't make it without you..." She expects him not to understand, but somehow, deep in her heart, she knows he does.

He'd had a wonderful childhood compared to hers, but she knows that he does his best to understand and to be there for her. Which is why she's scared. She knows that eventually, he could not want to be with her anymore... That's what happened to her parents, isn't it...?

She'd had a mom and a dad, but they'd just stopped loving each other, even though in the beginning they thought they'd needed each other. Obviously, they'd been wrong. So what if Zelda's wrong about her feelings right now? What if eventually, Link decides that he doesn't need her in his life anymore? She'd be heartbroken...

"I feel the exact same way as you do, Zelda," he says in response. "But I think it's worth the risk, don't you? We're not your parents, and we don't have to have the same future as them. I'm yours, and you're mine. I think we'll be alright."

A smile flits across her face as she begins to wipe away some of the tears streaking down his own face. "We can work this out, Link."

"Yes," he says in reply, kissing her cheek, "I think we can."
