Sans P.O.V~

I am dreading today. Today, Papyrus made me promise to leave the lab. Undyne, Alphys, Toriel, and Mettaton were coming over today to 'see how I was'.

I, rather reluctantly, promised Paps that I would at least try to be sociable. I don't think it is a crime to be grouchy and nervous when your fianceé was kidnapped for a lab to brutally study her secret powers that she revealed trying to save my brother, is it? No, not in my book.

I can't be interuppted right now! Not even for friends. I'm working on a soul resonating machine, to try and track (Y/N)'s soul. That way, I can find her, and murder the sickos who took her.

I look down at my attire. I am wearing a lab coat. I haven't picked up that thing in years, but I need it so that I won't stain my favorite jacket. The coat already has oil, magic, and chemical stains all over it. Under that are my classic slippers, my shorts, and a plain white  turtleneck.

How long do I have to humour them? Should I change? Uh... Nah, whatever. I will be working until they get here anyway.

"Lets see..."
I whisper.

A scary thought occurrs to me.

I sound a lot like him.

But I hate him, I can't sound like him!

I brush it off, assuring myself that I am nothing like him. He is brutal, and intimidating, and I am...

I am...

I am Determined.

O-K! Back to work!

"If I need it to resonate correctly... I will need to connect these, plug this in, oh shoot! I need to replace this..."

I like to say things aloud. It helps me to assure myself that I did it. Then I know I didn't make any mistakes. I don't really make mistakes, but doing it is still a comfort.

I hear a knock from the front door.

"Aw shoot!"
I exclaim, quickly tightening a screw.

"Ya know what? They can wait!"

I sling off my lab coat, replacing it with my jacket. Then I glance at the sheet in the corner. Under that sheet is something I will never try again. Not after what he has done to me since then.

"SANS! OUR GUESTS HAVE ARRIVED!"
Papyrus calls.

"In a minute Paps!"
I call back. If they care so much about me, they can wait five seconds.

I run over to the unfinnished prototype, and shut it down. I don't want to risk an explosion just because my machine was trying to resonate a soul. Then I adjust my crooked slipper, and zip up my jacket. My friends don't need to see me in a turtleneck. I look like him in it.

Just as I turned around, a loud banging sound echoes around the room.

And suddenly a metal door lays at my feet.

"UNDYNE!!!"
I yell, furious.

"UNDYNE! What the Hell! You could have damaged it!"
I scream at her. I don't even turn around. I know it was her.

"Destroy what punk?"
She says curiously.

Sure. Throw the door to my lab off its hinges, then ask me what I am doing in here. She could have hit the soul resonator! I think there might be a pun for this situation, but I'm not in the mood. Now I turn to her.

I pinch my nasal cavity with my finger and thumb.

"The FREAKING MACHINE RIGHT IN FRONT OF YOU! Are you looking around Undyne?"
I scream, purely aggravated.

She looks at me, probably shocked. Good thing she can't get to me through the pile of books between us.

"W-what is it?"
Alphys asks. I shake my head.

"Something to find (Y/N). Can we just get this over with?"
I mutter.

I don't wait for a response. I teleport to the living room, and settle in with a bottle of ketchup from my pocket. I like ketchup better cold, but hey! Ketchup is ketchup!

I tap my foot as the tangy-sweet taste of the tomato condiment hits my blue magic-ecto tongue. How it is there will forever remain a mystery to me. Magic!

The door slams open suddenly, but remains on its hinges. Thankfully. A screaming Undyne bursts into the room, and screams even louder when she sees me.

"Undyne, I am afraid you may startle the neighbors."
Toriel says, putting a hand on Undyne's shoulder.

"Uuugggh! Sorry your majesty..."

"We have established that you may call me Toriel."
Tori says with a chuckle.

" 'sup."
I say casually. Undyne turns red, from holding in her anger.

Everyone enters the living room, and the 'fun' starts. Honestly, the void sounds better right now. At least there I can think of more ways to save Waterlilly.

Whelp.

Time to pretend to be ok!

Short chapter, I know. But I thought you all would appreciate it, even if it is a little background fluff. Next chapter will be longer. I promise.
