It's All Over

Goodbye?

After what happened days ago, I became distant to Katniss. I always go hunting, putting up traps and snares, just to set my mind on different things. I leave at dawn and go back by sunset.

I may not be as good as Katniss but I can shoot some apples.

Back at our meeting place, I set up cans, fruits, whatever I could find, on top of 1 meter posts and shoot. To release stress I guess.

Then, a squirrel happens to pass by. I knew I had no reason but I aimed.

"Don't even think about it."

I turn around, the squirrel escaping.

"Katniss..."

"Hey. Thought I'll see you here." she approaches me and gives me a small wave.

"What are you doing here?" I turn again and focus at the cans.

"I barely see you anymore..." she says, sitting at a big boulder.

"That's because I refuse for you to see me." I smile. Then I shoot. It missed.

"Does this have to do with what happened that morning?"

I laughed a mocking laugh.

"Isn't it obvious?" I look at her, still smiling but it quickly faded as I see her serious face.

There was silence. I continue to shoot but they miss.

She walks to me. "Here," she says as she snatches the bow and an arrow from me. She aims and knocks a can down.

I frown at her and steals her place at the boulder.

She's smiling but saddens again.

"Can't we go back to being friends?" she asks.

She gives me the weapons and I shoot again. This time, it was a bulls-eye.

"We're still friends." I say coldly.

I can hear her sigh, "Are we?"

I look at her, suppressing the tears. I don't want her to see me cry but a single tear rolls.

"I'm... going back." then I left her.

The truth is, I don't know If I could still be friends with Katniss if I'll see her smooching with Peeta everytime.

"I'll leave tomorrow, will stay at my mother's. Still got three days till I go back to two." I tell Katniss and Peeta by dinner.

Katniss stopped eating and wiped her mouth with a napkin.

"Why so sudden?" she asks, looking at the roasted lamb chops.

"It's not. I had this planned." I lie.

"And I want to see my family."

"Well let us come with you. I also want to see my girlfriend's second family." Peeta smiles and continues eating.

I could feel my muscles tense but I tried to conceal it.

"It's not really necessary." I try my best to hide the fact that I don't want them to come.

"I want to come." Katniss says quickly.

I just stare at her. If this is what she wants, then two can play a game.

"Great. Then I'll introduce you to Agatha." I smile. I wipe my chin and stand, leaving Peeta curious and Katniss shocked.
