A/N: Here's the chapter, at last. Hope I live up to your expectations, especially after making you all wait. Enjoy!
Admin: Well, I'll take on Monokuma's role in this "trial", then.
Admin: Let's begin with a basic explanation of the trial. I will provide a topic or other material, and you must pick a side. Either "Agree" *gestures to my right*, "Disagree" *gestures to my left* or "Neither/No Opinion" *gestures in front of me, towards the back of the room* Once everyone has picked a side, each side must collaborate to provide testimony, or reasoning, to your decision. The others, well, Naegi, will cut in at any arguable statement and refute it any way he can. You are free to provide any evidence you see fit.
Admin: Are you ready? Then let's begin! Here's your topic!
Welcome to the Black Parade - My Chemical Romance
When I was a young boy
My father took me into the city
To see a marching bandHe said son when, you grow up
Will you be, the savior of the broken
The beaten and the damnedHe said will you defeat them
Your demons and all the non-believers
The plans they have madeBecause one day I'll leave you
A phantom to lead you in the summer
To join the black paradeSometimes I get the feeling she's watching over me
And other times I feel like I should go
Through it all, the rise and fall, the bodies in the streets
When you're gone we want you all to knowWe'll carry on
We'll carry on
Though your dead and gone believe me
Your memory will carry on
We'll carry on
And in my heart I can't contain it
The anthem won't explain itAnd we will send you reeling from decimated dreams
Your misery and hate will kill us all
So paint it black and take it back
Lets shout it loud and clear
Do you fight it to the end
We hear the call to
To carry on
We'll carry on
Though your dead and gone believe me
Your memory will carry on
We'll carry on
And though you're broken and defeated
You're weary widow marches on
And on we carry through the fears
Ooh oh ohDisappointed faces of your peers
Ooh oh
Take a look at me 'cause I could not care at all
Do or die
You'll never make me
'Cause the world, will never take my heart
Though you try, you'll never break me
We want it all, we wanna play this part
Won't explain or say I'm sorry
I'm not ashamed, I'm gonna show my scar
Give a cheer for all the broken
Listen here, because it's only
I'm just a man, I'm not a hero
Just a boy, who's meant to sing this song
Just a man, I'm not a hero
I, don't, careCarry on
We'll carry on
Though your dead and gone believe me
Your memory will carry on
You'll carry on
And though you're broken and defeated
You're wiry widow marches on
We'll carry on
We'll carry onAdmin: Alright, like to the right, dislike to the left, neither in the middle.
*Naegi, Kirigiri, Hinata, and Fuyuhiko move to the right*
*Togami, Asahina, and Junko moves to the left*
*Izuru goes to the middle*
Admin: Alrighty. Majority first, I suppose. Argue why this is a good song.
Naegi: I think, while the song is darker initially, it has a good message. Fight for those we've lost and look towards the future.
Hinata: That was my thinking. The song says that the world won't break them, and they'll keep on going on. I think that's a good message.
Fuyuhiko: Yeah. Liked the tune, and perseverance is key virtue in my family.
Kirigiri: Personally I liked it as a way to say that the dead will be remembered, but that doesn't mean we'll allow our grief for their loss to burden us. ....And I think.... I liked the fact the boy was talking... about his father.
Admin: *nods* And those who disagree? Since you're on the opposite side of Naegi, be prepared to have your statements cut into.
[Note: I'll put the "weak points" in italics]
Togami: I'm prepared.
Admin: Then present your argument.
Togami: I'll go first. For starters, as I have stated multiple times, I do not associate myself with pop culture and anything that goes with it.
Naegi: (That's just an opinion.... not much I can say there.)
Togami: That's not only me. No one of my intellectual level would listen to something so ideological and childish.
Naegi: You've got that wrong!
Togami: !
Admin: *makes a glass-shattering noise in the background*
Naegi: W-What was that?!
Admin: Sound effects. Don't mind me.
Naegi: O-Okay.
Naegi: You can hardly call this song childish. It has too much depth and dark themes for a child to be listening to... heck, I don't fully get it myself.
Naegi: Also, you can't speak for anyone but yourself. You're... pretty unique, Togami. No one thinks like you. Generalizations aren't accurate.
Naegi: Lastly, if the ideal of hope and the future is too outlandish for you, why the heck are you in the Future Foundation? What do you think we fight for?!
Togami: Tch. As this is part of the dare, I will concede to your point. Know that you wouldn't get away with such an insult normally.
Naegi: Urk...
Admin: Asahina, you're up.
Asahina: Well, I don't like it cause it's so dreary and sad. I mean, the guy is talking about when his dad dies and the evil of the world. It makes it sound so hopeless...
Naegi: No! That's wrong!
Admin: *glass shatters*
Naegi: Gah! That scares me...
Admin: It's for the readers. Please continue.
Naegi: Sorry... Anyway, it's not hopeless! The guy is telling him that even after he dies that he will always remember him, that he will persevere like he's always taught him! The song may be kinda dark, but not hopeless!
Asahina: Oh! I didn't think it of it that way! I guess it's not that hopeless after all...
Junko: And that's why it's awful! Where's the heart-wrenching despair of losing one's loved ones? The hopelessness of the situation? This is so disgustingly hopeful I might melt!
Naegi: How can you say that? The hope of the message is what makes the song good! You don't think that because you're the ultimate despair, but you can't say that about the rest of us!
Junko: Oh really now? What about you, Izuru? Why don't you tell them why this song is so boring?
Admin: *looks at Izuru* ....Well?
Izuru: ...It's predictable. I don't stand with either side. It's just predictable.
Junko: Well you're no fun.
Admin: You don't have to refute Izuru, Naegi, unless you feel like it. His opinion of everything is boring.
Naegi: That would of been difficult. Thank you.
Admin: *smiles* Of course, Naegi.
Admin: Well, that's the end of the chapter. Tell me what you think of my trail format, if it needs changes or is good as-is. Thank you for your patience.
Naegi: Bye guys! See you soon!
