For years, J had endured the torments of living alone, of bearing the difficulties she encountered alone, of going through life without knowing the truth.
For years, Alex had lived with another man, dwelled in a bitter sweet relationship, devoted to happiness. He knew J would suffer if she knew the truth, but he knew J would never be capable of accepting the truth, for she was a fragile woman.
Perhaps, it was thoughtful of Alex for hiding the truth from J. Perhaps, J should have been more easy-going and dispose of her high-strung personality. However, did J deserve all of these? Did she?
Alex betrayed J's trust, J's love and the affection J had towards him. But, Alex regretted what he had done and apologised. What else could he have done? Should Alex be forgiven for what he had done to J? Could his apology be accepted and everything that happened in the past would be concealed?
Hurt impaled J's soul, time wore out their relationship, dream made them believed in their ever-lasting and growing affection for each other, twilight binded them together, past tore their bond apart, living in denial was the only way for J to escape from the petrifying truth.
Alex knew that telling the truth was inevitable and so he did. J would have to cope with the uproar alone.
**19 years later**
"Alex, what do you think of our new born child?"
"Well, I'm pretty sure he would grow up as a handsome man just like his father." Alex said while grinning.
"You mean a pain in the ass," J said while laughing.
Both of them laughed while sitting beside each other. Alex gently carressed the new born child's forehead and stared into his eyes. They were like Jack's--sparkling sapphire as though they were deep oceans.
Films of black and white flickered in his mind. If he did not reveal the truth and apologise to J, he wouldn't have had a perfect family. J noticed that Alex was in daze and shook him back to reality. She knew that Alex was dwelling on the past.
"Alex, I'm really glad that you came back to find me. You did not give up on our relationship;you did not give up on our trust."
"Yes babe, I really am a lucky man. I should have been grateful to have you in my life. Together, we can provide each other with love and care."
"And we will live happily ever after."
"Just like the fairytales."
