Sophie's POV

We finally get to his car by the pack house, and where we find a strange man leaning on a black SUV.

"Hello Alpha, glad to see you made it back safely." the man says, opening the passenger door so James sets me down in the car. "I'm taking her to the doctor to get her ankle examed and make sure she doesn't have a concussion. Also, Sophie this Daniel, my Beta. Daniel this is Sophie, my Mate." James says, holding the passenger door open so I still have a view of Daniel.

"Hello Daniel, it's nice to meet you." I smile at him, as he quickly responded, "Hello Luna, nice to meet you as well."

Didn't James just say my name is Sophie, not Luna - then it clicked. Luna is the name for the mate of the Alpha. Jesus, I feel like a kindergartener talking to high schoolers. I have no idea what is going on.

James finally chimes in, "Well we will be going, I will keep you updated with her medical issues and when we are on our way back to the hotel."

"Hotel? No, I have a place I'd like to stay at." I quickly respond, he can't think he can control what I do.

"We will discuss this later Sophie, let's get you checked out." James groans out, not looking forward to having another argument with me.

Rolling my eyes while leaning back in my seat, "Fine."

----

The doctor informed me it was just a mild sprain, and that it's healing fine. With the concussion, he said I was completely okay to continue regular activities.

He gave me some crutches and I gimp my way to the waiting room. Where I smell James sitting there in the waiting room on his cell phone. This isn't fair at all, I can't imagine my world without Taylor but I want him to be safe, he deserves that. I quickly, start focusing on masking my scent so I don't catch his attention.

I quietly make my way to the lobby doors, not taking my attention off those doors. When I sense him right behind me and without even turning around I say, "Hello James."

He puts his hand around my waist, I feel the sparks again throughout my body. "Where do you think you're going?" Turning me around to face him. His face shows no amusement with my failed attempt to leave him handing in the hospital lobby.

"Home, I called an Uber and it will be here any second." I say reaching out my hand leaning on one of my crutches to keep balance, "It was a pleasure to meet you and thank you taking me to the doctor. But if you don't mind I -"

"Sophie, you're my mate. There is no goodbye." He says while leading me with his hand on the small of my back towards his car.

"Hey! Watch yourself, I'm injured and fragile! No manhandling!" I snap.

I'm already tired of his attitude. Taylor is so sweet, and he listens to me. Mr. Alpha over here is suffocating me, like I don't even know how to tie my own shoes or brush my teeth. Is this the rest of my life?

He tries to help me into his car, but I refuse it. Placing the crutches in the front of the seat and one leg hop into the front seat, feeling pleased with myself I look over at James with triumph that I didn't need him. James is standing there holding my door open and once he sees I'm situated he closes it rolling his eyes tired of my stubbornness.
