HIS FEET POUNDED against the hard, mossy ground. Rain caused his hair to stick to his face and obscure his vision. His heart was hammering against his ribcage, and the cut across his face was beginning to sting.A silver arrow whizzed past his face - barely missing him - and embedded itself into a tree he'd barged his shoulder into. He cursed to himself. Twelve glowing auras were advancing on him, he could feel them.
Uneven breathing had become an old friend of his years ago. He tried not to look back as he heard the gruff voice of his uncle calling after him, beckoning him back, and continued to run.
They'd turned on him. Used his flaw against him. Blamed him of treason against his own family. And now here he was, running for his miserable life.
A flash of lightning and he was thrown onto his side. Harsh ringing in his ears caused him to cry out, giving away his location to his predators. He felt like a child laying on the ground and groaning noiselessly.
Then he felt the auras of power - they had found him.
He pushed himself onto his feet and met the steely glares of his family.
"You've nowhere to run, boy." Ares, the god of war, grunted and hoisted his gun higher, aiming for the left side of his chest.
"I can try." He replied tiredly and turned, ready to begin running again, only to be met by the goddess of the hunt and her brother.
Nevermind, he thought to himself.
If this was how he was going down, then so be it. He'd make his final stand against the people he'd once give his life for. He no longer had anything to live for; to fight for. He weakly lifted his fists into a defensive position.
"Gimme everything you got." He challenged as the twin archers and their brother charged him.
He prayed to whoever would listen, someone, anyone, and using the last of his strength, he caught a silver arrow in one hand and a golden arrow in another. He rolled away from Ares' line of fire and snapped the arrows clean in half. He advanced on his cousins, a dangerous look in his eyes.
Artemis was the first to make it to him, her mouth open as she let our a cry of rage that matched the look in her eyes. Even though she had taken the form of an eleven year old girl, she looked menacing.
Her bow was raised above her head and a crack of lighting rang out. She moved at incredible speeds and he barely managed to raise his forearm to stop the dagger that was aiming for his neck. Artemis glowered and he smirked, throwing her arm away from his and kicking her square in the chest. She flew back and landed in a bunch.
"You'll pay for that." Apollo sneered, nocking three arrows in his bow - even though he didn't wear an arrow sheath - and firing them all at once.
He dodged them with ease, even managing to gran hold of one and flinging it in the direction of Artemis, the arrow piercing into her leg. She cried out and Apollo only became more furious.
"Give up now, kid." The bellowing voice of Hades came from somewhere deep inside the woods. The Big Three had yet to find his and the siblings location.
A burning pain seared through his shoulder as a bullet ripped through his skin and muscles. Ares laughed from behind him as Apollo nocked another arrow before him.
His eyes scanned the area around them and landed on the silver bow laying a foot away from Artemis. He had never been good at archery, but life or death didn't care about that.
So he raced towards it, rolling, ducking behind trees, and blindly dodging the arrows and bullets coming for him. He leapt and rolled, hand closing around the bow and pulling back the bowstring, as if he had nocked an arrow. A deadly looking, silver arrow materialised in his hand and he let it sail through the air. Ares only grunted when it came into contact with his stomach.
