Step brother [A Prodigy Short Story] *completed*

Ci & I were holding on to each other crying our eyes out as we stood in front of the terminal leading to the plane she was about to board that was taking her to El Paso. Ci & I hadn't talked in 5 days. She was pissed off that I was being inconsiderate but I felt a little better that she hugged me goodbye anyways. We cried the whole 45 minutes to the airport. My mom was sending her off instead of me & for that, I felt like shit. Roc was the last person she hugged & my mom ended up having to pry those two apart which ripped my heart in two. I couldn't believe I was actually letting my mom believe it was Ci & Roc but I wouldn't tell because of my own selfish reasons. They did a last call for the El Paso flight & Ci had to leave. It took a lot, but she cooperated. I just stood there hugging my mom crying my eyes out.

A few months passed by. I was starting 10th grade in a couple of days. Ci still wasn't talking to me because I still hadn't told my mom the truth. I just... I just can't bring myself to do it. I stopped talking to Craig too. As of now, I was just sitting on my bed getting my supplies together for school. I was a low key nerd. Don't judge me though. My thoughts were interrupted by my phone ringing & saw that it was Jazmyn.

"Hello"

"Miya, get your ass to Jacob's house right fucking now! I'm about to kill him & your stupid friend Kaila!"

I pulled the phone away from my ear looking confused. What the hell did those to have going on? I told her ok & grabbed my car keys. Yep, my car keys! I'd gotten my L's on my sixteenth birthday & my mom bought me a chevy malibu. I drove over to Jacob's house & walked inside (cuz I be bossin like dat) & saw Jazmyn & Kaila going at it. They weren't fighting yet.. but I'm sure it will get to that point. I walked over & got in between them so we could get to the bottom of this. I finally got them to calm down so I proceeded to ask questions.

"Da fuck is going on in here?"

"Ok first off, I come over here to surprise Jacob ass & this bitch is over here, in his bed!"

"Bitch? Who tf you calling a bitch??!!"

"You bitch!"

"Oh hell no! Stop all that damn arguing over a boy! "

I screamed at the two of them. It was ridiculous that Jazmyn was mad. Her & Kaila weren't cool & Jacob is the common denominator. If anybody was going to fight, it should've been them against him.

"Ok first off Jazmyn, instead of going after Kaila, you need to check Jacob first."

"Exactly!"

"Shut up Kaila & stop egging it on! The three of you need to sit down & be cordial with no attitude to talk like civilized individuals."

After an hour of talking, Kaila & Jazmyn finally came to terms that Jacob wasn't shit & they decided to leave his curly haired ass there by himself then came to my house with me. We walked up to my room & when we passed Craig's, his door was cracked a little & he was having sex with some girl. My stomach immediately turned sour & I took off full speed to the toilet with Jazmyn & Kaila right on my heels. They head my hair as I threw up & cried my eyes out. Once I got myself together, brushed my teeth etc., we went inside my room. At first it was silent with only the sounds of me sniffling then Jazmyn hit me with the award winning question.

"Miya... Are you pregnant?"

I couldn't even answer her. I had to have been. I hadn't had my period in 5 months & I'd gained a little weight but not much. & to top it off, every time I thought a baby was kicking, it always turned out to be gas. My stomach wasn't even hard so I wasn't even really worried about it..... Ok I was but I never took a test because I didn't want it to come out positive.

"Get up, we're going to get you some tests"

I nodded & got up. My nerves were so bad at this point. What if it really did come out positive? What the hell was I going to do? We went to the drug store & got three different brands of tests & they all had two in them. They were going to take one with me so I wouldn't be doing it by myself. (Awkward pause)..... We got back to the house, drunk a bunch of apple juice & waited until our guts were about to bust then peed on all of them. We set the timer for ten minutes & when it went off, I wouldn't budge so the two of them went to get theirs. When the they came back, both of them were in tears & I immediately got worried.

"We're both pregnant!"

My mouth dropped to the floor. I couldn't believe this. When I checked mine, they both were positive too. I damn near fainted & started crying with the rest of them. This genuinely couldn't have been happening.

A little while later, I decided to call Ci after the girls left. I was so nervous to call her in fear that she would be disappointed. I pressed 3 on my speed dial & put the phone up to my ear. As the phone rang, my nerves got worse & worse then she finally picked up.

"What Miya.?"

"Please don't be like that Ci. There's something I have to tell you."

She got quiet & then said ok. It took me a while to get it out though.

"Well umm.. I'm pregnant..."

"What the fuck Miya??? How could you be so irresponsible?"

"I'm.. I'm sorry! I wasn't thinking!"

"Umm yea that's pretty obvious."

I just got quiet as I silently cried & I heard Ci sniffling too.

"I'm about to trick dad & tell him in going to six flags with a friend in San Antonio but I'm gonna come take you to the doctor so we can be 100% clear.. Meet me at Roc's house tomorrow around 9 a.m. & if it comes out that you really are, you're telling mommy EVERYTHING.

I sighed & hung up the phone. I was happy Ci still at my back but I wasn't to thrilled about having to tell mommy.
