Chapter Eight: Didn't Know

The crowd went wild when Alexander took another three point shot. He was so amazing and skillful when it comes to that kind of sport. I wonder if he knew some other sports aside from Basketball? I witnessed how fast he was whenever he took the ball. He skillfully stole the ball from his opponent and he left him dumbfounded. He took a glance on me and gave me a lopsided smile as he winked. My face remained clueless.

I was in the bench wherein his bag and cellphone was there. He insisted that I should sit here at bench because he can run towards me immediately. And when I was here, I can see how deft he was. I have seen his games but I still get amazed by his movements in the court.

I'd felt my phone vibrated. I took a glimpse of it but when I saw Hailey's message, I did just ignore it. I know they were still naive upon my movements, but I don't want them to know all about my plan. It's just, I can't take any risk on this. I felt a lace of fear in my guts. This game was definitely a childish thing. I don't know why I let my pride put me on this game. It's just a... grave danger.

Tumunog ang pito ng coach nila hudyat na tapos na silang maglaro. Napatingin ako kay Alexander na tumatakbo palapit saakin. His smile is making me feel something eerie. I stood up and took the bottled water and handed it to him, fumbling.

He smiled and took the water I had offered to him, "What can you see about my game?"

I shrugged, "I didn't really know how the rules and regulations of that game. I didn't understa—"

"I don't need your knowledge about the game itself, I want to know what can you say about me, playing." he cleared off.

"You were amazing," I said as a matter-of-factly.

He made a lopsided smile and opened the sealed bottled water.

"Really?" he said before putting the mouth of bottle on his.

I pouted, "Don't act as if it was your first time to hear a compliment like that. I am sure you've heard it from all other girls around," I huffed then took a look on the girls on the bleachers.

Matapos niyang uminom ay binalik niya ang takip ng kanyang bottled water. I spun when I realized that he needs something, I unzipped my bag and took out my face towel. I don't know if he had one.

"Here," I said offering the face towel.

Tumaas ang kanyang kilay. He looked at me as if he was weighing my expression. I rolled my eyes. This one wasn't part of my plan. I was just concern about him— as a normal girl, of course. Before he takes the face towel he pressed his lips as if he was suppressing himself to smile.

"Did you offer this because you don't want my smell?" he said without any basis.

What? Hindi ko nga naiisip ang amoy niya! Honestly, I can't smell anything bad on him. I can just smell his usual perfume. At alam kong amoy niya ang katawan niya. Hindi ko nga alam, e. How could he even smell like that when in the first place was he's sweating too much because of their heavy practice? Oh, well, his perfume was kind of expensive and made of Paris.

I shook my head, "No, I thought, you need that,"

The side of his lips rose, "So, I wasn't smell bad?"

I shook my head again. Mas lalong lumawak ang ngisi niya at lumapit saakin at inakbayan ako. Nagulat ako sa kanyang ginawa kaya madali ko siyang tinulak, but he's strong so I can't get off of him. His smell protruded my nostrils. He's sweaty but he smells like this? How unfair this life is.

"Get off me!" I whined. "Gosh, your sweaty!"

"Oh? I thought I'm not smell bad? Why are you protesting now?" he said, smugging.
