Nathan abruptly stopped the sedan at a small parking lot. "We're here." He frowned, dramatically dropping his hand off the steering wheel. I slowly crept out of my seat as I squinted at the bright sunrise. We were parked in front of a humble townhouse with beige shutters.

"It's.. Cute!" I squawk. I just woke up from what seemed like a 2 hour nap, so my voice was super nasty.

"Stop being sarcastic, I know it's not the luxurious penthouse you're used to.." Nathan shakes his head with a smile as he unlocks the door.

Jax chuckled behind us. "Jaiden's perfectly fine, right!?" He nudges my arm.

"Yeah, totally! My mental state is definitely A-OK after leaving my abusive boyfriend and going through 46 different near-death experiences!" I sassed.

"Abusive!?" Nathan instantly stops struggling to unlock the door, and turns to me. Jax's chuckle faded into a dark frown.

My mouth slightly cracks open, in total shock of what I just said. I wasn't supposed to tell them that...

"Can we talk about this later?" Faux tears crawl down my face, convincing them to continue unlocking the door. Thank God, I did NOT want to talk to them about my experiences out in the open. Wrong time, wrong place.

Nathan FINALLY opens the door, revealing the small open interior, decorated with worn-out IKEA furniture. We quickly file in the cozy house, grateful that we had somewhere to crash.

"Welcome home." Nathan stretches out his arms with a grin on his face as he walked to the compact kitchen. "This is a 2 bedroom apartment, so are you guys fine with sharing a room? There's two separate beds.."

I quickly nodded, and blew the hair out of face.
