JUSTIN'S P.O.V
I just finished taking a shower and had changed into a pair of grey sweatpants. I heard a knock on the door so I answered it to see Merit standing there. She didn't speak and her eyes were wide. I was confused for a while and my eyebrows furrowed. I was wondering why she looked so flushed, although her cheeks looked like tomatoes.
Then it hit me.
Ooooohhhhh...I'm shirtless.
I smirked before snapping my fingers in front of her face. "Uh...sorry." she said, trying to avoid eye contact. "It's ok. Come in." she entered my room and sat down on my bed before saying, "Let's begin, shall we?"
"We shall." I answered.
For three hours she explained the different terms and gave me different equations to complete. I was now slowly understanding Math a little better, thanks to Merit.
She closed her textbook before turning her entire body to me. "You did good today. I can see that there are certain areas you struggle with, but you seem to catch on easily so by next week you will be ready for that test." she said, packing up her stuff.
"Thanks a lot, Merit. And, uh...would you like to stay for dinner?" I asked her. "No problem and your mom already scheduled that with me." she chuckled, probably remembering my mom's very embarrassing persuasive technique she used to get her to say yes to dinner this evening.
Oh mother...
I chuckled at that before my mom called us down for dinner. Everyone was at the table, except for dad of course. Jazzy had this inquisitive look on her face when she saw Merit. I know that look and it's not good.
Oh god no, Jazzy...
"What's your name? How old are you? You're really pretty. Are you Justin's girlfriend?" Jazzy showered Merit with questions and statements. I froze. She does this to every girl she sees with me.
"My name's Merit. I'm seventeen. Thank you and no." Merit responded to her calmly. "And you're really pretty too." she added. "Thank you." Jazzy said to her before turning to me. "I like her!" she exclaimed happily. "Me too!" Jaxo said. We all laughed at that.
Half way down into the meal, the front door opened and my dad walked in. Why is he home so early?
He was tense, his eyebrows were furrowed and his hair was messy, probably because he kept on pulling on it. Oh, what happened now?
He stomped his way to the head of the table and sat down before saying, "Good evening everyone." in his ' I mean business' voice.
We all answered with firm 'good evenings'. Mom got up and served dad's food. She bent down and whispered something into his ear before leaving a kiss on his cheek.
Probably bringing to him the realization that we have a guest.
My dad looked up at Merit and addressed her properly. "Good evening young lady. Please dismiss my absence of manners. May I ask you your name?"
"Good evening Mr. Bieber. My name is Merit and I'm your son's tutor and good friend." she said shyly.
YES! We're friends! We're getting somewhere...
"Ah..." My dad gave me a teasing look. "Well, it's nice to meet you Merit. And please, call me Jeremy."
"Yes, Mr...I mean...Jeremy. It's a pleasure to meet you as well." she said. "Nice one son. I like her already." my dad commented, which caused everyone to chuckle and Merit and I blushed. Ugh...thanks a lot, dad.
During dinner, dad explained that he had lost the shipyard sale with Japan, which caused the company's investments to drop terribly. As usual, mom had to explain to him that he shouldn't stress himself out because one shipment deal went downhill.
Merit looked engrossed in the conversation. She would mostly listen, but sometimes add points or ideas which my dad would agree with. It's as if she fits right in with my family. It's like she's already a part of my family and they seem to have accepted her already.
She is the only girl who has ever held a strong business conversation with dad, have good agreements with mom about household projects and have a lot of fun with Jazzy and Jaxo all in one night.
And right there and then, I realized that I really like this girl.
