Among the Fireflies

I lay my head on your shoulder
Brush your cheek with a gentle kiss,
And if you leave I'll struggle to breathe
Sometimes it's hard to reminisce
You wrap your arms around me
Your scent inflates my lungs ,
And as I'm seeped in romance
Loving words seep from your tongue.

Your warm embrace surrounds me,
I hug your flowing shirt,
But as the bells screamed out to us
Your parting left me hurt.
Though sweet in your intention
Through my own thought it stung
Because you light my heart up,
Like the fireflies we were among.

But when we dance with torches
My hope returns again
The love of my life is with me
A hope that knows no end.
We play with wisps and willows
Made dim by your shine,
Your radiance consumes me-
A beauty so divine

Your departure is approaching,
And though it's not the last
I feel the sadness drawing close
As it always haunts my past.
Goodbye my ruby princess
Your parting hurts my soul
And though our hearts endure this
Your parting burns a hole
