Derek

I feel my heart rate pick up I feel like I'm gonna have a heart attack or panic attack or both! "Derek!" Daniel says pulling him for a hug. I stand there frozen everyone around me seems to stop moving my eyes glued on him

"I haven't seen you in forever it's been so long you went got married and now have a wife anything else I don't know?" He looks around "should there be a toddler running around?"

Daniel chuckles "no no you haven't missed that much" he turns to me "derek meet my beautiful wife Veronica" he calmly says hiding the truth

I stand frozen as he say "nice to meet you Veronica I'm Derek" he extends his hand out I just stare at it I stare at the hand that once would caresse my cheek and hold my hand I can't do this I can't just pretend everything is okay and not cry  "I'm pretty sure your suppose to shake it" he whispers chuckling....he seems so happy

I let out a nervous giggle "pleasure to meet my husbands brother"

"It's all mine! I must  say I am surprised he settled in what's your secret?" He says in a whispering way

"I'm still here" Daniel says waving his hand in the air

"Will you excuse me Im a little parched" i say una Ake to be in his presence any longer without breaking down. I leave with a smile and look for a waiter I finally find one and take two glass of champaigne and start chugging one down. I can't believe this how are they siblings derek never told me he had a brother. I feel like a bomb has been dropped on me. Derek is so close after all this time here he is with the slightest idea  that it's me the girl he loves or loved. I finish my champaigne and begin looking for more

By this time I'm on my sixth glass of champaign. I haven't seen Daniel in a while he's been walking everywhere talking to people and Derek well I don't know where he is either. I start to finish my last glass when "woah Veronica I think you've had one too many" Dylan takes my glass away from me

"Not really" I sigh the tears about to come out any second

"You found out didn't you" Dylan ask I look up st him my eyes getting watery my hands shaky when I begin to remember Derek and Daniel are siblings. Once again this is why I stopped trusting him

"you knew? And didn't even tell me?" I say in a low voice

"I couldn't" he quickly says In defense "Veronica-"

"Save it Dylan" I cut him off and walk away. This day just keeps getting better doesn't it. I just wanna be left alone I've been holding in the need to cry that I feel like exploding. I begin to head to the stairs

"Hey Veronica" his voice is like a melody to my ears bringing back all the memories we made bringing me warmth something I haven't felt in a while. I close my eyes take a deep breath before I turn around to face him "where ya going this party was meant for you"

"Um I'm not much of a party person" i manage to say I don't even know how I'm not crying right now I guess by now I've learned to hold in my emotions

He puts his hands in his pockets and faces the crowd "I feel you " is all he says

I wanna keep talking I wanna take advantage of this. Without thinking I say "Daniel never told me he had a brother.."

He shakes his head while chuckling " we are actually step brothers we have different dad's"he thinks for a second "I didn't tell my ex that I had a brother either" his smile fades as he says this but then it comes back "so I guess we are even am I right" he tries to lighten up the mood  with a chuckle but I know him too well

"Who was your ex" I blurt out scared that I'm asking too much that Daniel might be watching us talk but I'm willing to take the risk tonight had already been a crazy night
